So I was surprised and impressed to know that Samantha has a health podcast. Samantha’s own health journey battling myositis, an autoimmune condition where the body attacks its own muscles, inspired her health podcast, @take20health. The reason I had him on a science and health podcast is that the sort of work he does reveals features of our perception that are not otherwise recognized. In other words, he reveals aspects of how your brain works. - Here Asi does an absolutely astonishing trick. I promise I was not in on it in anyway. There were several people in the room as well, some filming and some just watching. - Two questions for you: 1) How do you think he did it? 2) How often in every day life do you think your perception causes you to believe something happened that actually did not? - Bonus: do you believe in magic? Serious question. - Asi has a show in London Right now called Incredibly Human. I’ve seen his live shows and they are very close quarters and unlike anything else you’ve ever experienced so if you’re lucky enough to be able to see it, it’s rolling until January 5. If you’re hypertensive or pre-diabetic or severely overweight or facing chronic pain or have some other chronic disease because of your food consumption, I want you to say… I’m going to do something about it today. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Not next month. Today. Right now. I don’t care how small. Start walking. March in place while watching something. Don’t have that ultra-processed or refined sugar snack(s) today. Water instead of soda. More sleep. Find a way to destress. Listen to a health podcast. Most importantly—start in the kitchen. It’s the small changes you implement everyday for your health that will have the biggest impact. So tell yourself, “I’m going to do something about my health. Right now.” Your health can’t afford to wait until later. 10 months ago I hit rock bottom with my health. I didn’t think about how health and healing are so closely aligned. So many childhood abuse survivors seek solace—whether consciously or subconsciously—in food choices that cause chronic diseases. I was one of them. Survivors who are obese in adulthood aren’t lazy or lack willpower—they are strong, whether they believe it or not, and coping the best way they know how. But there is a better way. A healthier way—and this is the way us survivors deserve. Right now. 🙏🏾❤️
