Although fringed leaf frogs (Cruziohyla craspedopus) definitely aren't known to cannibalize each other, and don't have very big mouths to do so, I wasn't 100% going to rule it out because frogs will be frogs 😥🐸! • #frog #reptiliatus #pet #terrarium #reptile

Spring is in the air, and that means lots of exciting things are beginning to unfold in my reptile room! Animals are starting to wake up from their winter dormancies, breeding plans are underway, and seasonal routines are shifting once again. Today, my Surinam horned frogs (Ceratophrys cornuta) are being offered their first meals after several months of a slightly cooler, drier winter period: frozen-thawed quail chicks. While this species does not typically undergo estivation in the same way some other members of the genus can, they do naturally experience drier seasonal conditions, and I like to reflect that in their annual care. Who knows! Maybe I’ll even try reproducing this species! There’s something so exciting and rewarding about this time of year as the room comes back to life and another breeding season begins! Busy times ahead! • #reptiliatus #frog #terrarium #reptile #pet
