SICan’t believe how long we’ve been coming here, the boys aren’t quite 5 and this is their 4th festival.
Yes there are some paid shows: if you wanna see Nas w/ a symphony orchestra (just last night), well that one’s not free- but guess what, most of the music we’ve discovered and now love are all on the very many free stages across the festival. And very many times, the big names are free too.
I just don’t know many other festivals that put so much effort into a celebratory, peaceful, inclusive event. Love the free waters even when you go to a paying food vendor- the free water option is always available and there are also water refill stations all over. I love how spread out it all is and there’s very often somewhere to sit and relax. Some shows can get crowded but it’s never overwhelming and that’s why we feel good having the kids with us even late into the night. And then you’re in a fun city with lots to do right around the periphery of the festival. Definitely our most favorite thing we do all year.
P.s. even though Kai has sound sensitivities - for some reason he’s usually fine here. We do carry the noise canceling if he starts showing discomfort- last night we had them on a lot… but it’s not always the case. #autismawareness #sensorysensitivity
