No one actually cares about your job search story. Just hear me out. Hoping a hiring manager will feel sorry for you because you've been searching for a long time is not a strategy. Hiring managers aren't making decisions based on who needs the job most. They're making decisions based on who is the best option for them and their team. Every single time. So instead of leading with how long you've been searching, put that energy into becoming the candidate they can't afford to ignore. Show them what you've delivered. Show them the impact you've created. Show them what changes when you're in the room. That's what gets you hired. 🚩Hiring managers number one red flag are job hoppers because they don’t want to go through all the trouble of hiring someone and pay to onboard and train them for them to just leave in 6 months. It’s a very expensive risk for companies and in this job market they don’t need to take that risk because there are a lot of great candidates. Why would they hire the job hopper over the candidate who has been at the same company for 4 years? They won’t. 🧐Did you know that the average job posting gets between 150-300 applications. How does your resume stack up against the competition? If you put your resume up against 299 other resumes, how would it look? Would you get scheduled an interview or would they immediately delete it? 👩🏼‍💻It’s important to understand that the decisions you make in your career affect how likely you are to be hired. You may think that job hopping is great and in the short term you can triple your salary but eventually it catches up to you. 🅰️ Too many jobs on a resume is a scarlet letter in the corporate world. If you want to get hired for the best jobs and demand the top of the salary range, you can’t leave jobs until you have been there a minimum of 2 years. 😱Are you a job hopper? Do you have lots of short stints on your resume? I am not talking about having been laid off or if you are a contractor, that is different. But if you voluntarily leave jobs in less than 2 years and you’ve done it a lot, you will be perceived as a job hopper. 💁🏼‍♀️Coaching tip- if you have this on your resume, write a great cover letter explaining the job hops and the reasons why. Recruiters are more likely to schedule you and interview and give you a chance if they understand the reasoning behind it. Tell them your why, if you don’t, they will assume the worst. And prepare a great answer to “Why do you have so many jobs on your resume?” #jobhopper #careeradvice #jobsearch #jobmarket #jobinterview
