The 2024 Detroit Autorama Ridler prize winner stopped by our studio for a couple of photos this week
If you don’t know. This is Dave and Tracey Maxwells beautiful 53 Corvette Corvair concept built by @kindigitdesign
Dubbed “Twelveair” this 53 corvette is loosely based off an old Corvette concept shown back in the 1950s. However this is far from what GM had imagined. This one’s got a race cast engineering 9.2L naturally aspirated V12 and an 8 speed transaxle out of a new C7 corvette making it quite the machine

LOTwelveAir is a jaw-dropping, hand-built 1953 Corvette-inspired coupe by Kindig-It Design that stayed secret for five years to win the Ridler. Every panel and aluminum monocoque was fabricated from scratch, with no donor car used. It packs a custom, LS-based 9.2L V12 built by Race Cast Engineering, tuned to roughly 650 hp for drivability. It debuted at Detroit Autorama and took home the Don Ridler Memorial Award — proof that obsessive craftsmanship and silence can create automotive art and stunned the car world globally.

Luckily enough I got to stick around after show closed to catch @KinDigitDesign’s latest build at @TripleCrownOfRodding, The #TwelveAir! You always hear “pictures do this thing no justice” in regards to how nice a build is but that would be a complete understatement here. EVERYTHING on the car was hand made and crafted. Not a single sheet was from a donor car. A complete aluminum body that houses a powerplant produced by @v12LS which takes two LS1 blocks & mates them together. Most of the interior was 3d printed with design influence from corvettes of all generations. One of the CRAZIEST things is the gauge clusters on the dash are white gold with diamonds for the markings… All on top of a 19/20x12 set of 1 off wheels backed by 6/4 piston brake set up with chrome rotors. Being able see it in person, in motion, and hear it was worth the trip alone to Nashville.
