In less than 60 seconds, Steve Jobs offers a powerful lesson on leadership... Back in the spring of 1992, Steve Jobs was invited to speak to a group of students at the MIT Sloan School of Management. At one point, a student asks Jobs this poignant question: "What’s the most important thing that you personally learned at Apple that you’re doing at NeXT?" Wisdom follows... "I'm not sure I learned this when I was at Apple, but I learned it based on the data when I was at Apple," he began. Jobs continued... "I now take a longer-term view on people. In other words, when I see something not being done right, my first reaction isn’t to go fix it. It’s to say, we’re building a team here. And we’re going to do great stuff for the next decade, not just the next year, and so what do I need to do to help so the person that’s screwing up learns–versus 'how do I fix the problem.'" Leadership starts with articulating a future motivating state that your team believes in. You have to make it so that they see themselves in this vision, that they play a role in making it come to life. The lessons Steve Jobs shares with us is to believe in the potential of people and work with them to grow into that person. Coach. Collaborate. Enlighten. Mentor. Encourage. Support Don't step in to fix things. This disheartens people and tears down their confidence, hope, and ambition. Understand... Build people up. Let them try. Share lessons, but let them give their best. When mistakes are made, let them learn and grow. This is EQ in motion. You also teach people to take the longer-term view with others... #leadership #innovation #leader #motivationalspeaker #motivational #inspirational #motivation #inspiration #Stevejobs #apple

Simon Sinek Leadership goes beyond formal ranks. A genuine leader prioritizes the well-being of their team. In some cases, high-ranking executives may not embody true leadership qualities. True leadership involves empowering others to excel, fulfill aspirations, and pursue their dreams. Instead of “I KNOW…” try “THAT’S RIGHT”. ⁣ When it comes to how we communicate, we so often default to habitual ways to replying, without being aware of the impact it has on others.⁣ ⁣ Something many of us use when replying to someone who tells us something we already know is, “I KNOW…”⁣ ⁣ But replying with “I Know” (even though it could be entirely true) can do more harm than good.⁣ ⁣ I hear it not only in professional environments, but often in personal relationships - with friends, family, husbands, wives…⁣ ⁣ “I know” can block the free flow of ideas.⁣ It can restrict open communication. ⁣ It can reflect that you’re not open to the perspective of others.⁣ It can (sometimes) be taken to reflect a degree of incompetence (you ‘knew’ yet you did not ‘do’).⁣ And, it can even invalidate someone else, especially where they’re excited to share whatever they’re sharing. This one’s most common in close relationships. ⁣ ⁣ A simple tip is to replace “I know” with “that’s right”. ⁣ ⁣ This way, you can build on the conversation, justify your course of action (if that helps, e.g. at work) and encourage greater collaboration. It can also subtly offer validation to the person who just shared something with you, while still elevating your credibility.⁣ ⁣ Of course, it doesn’t apply to every situation, but a useful addition to your communication toolkit for when it may help.⁣ ⁣ Have you ever had someone reply to you with “I know”? How did it feel in the moment? 🎉PS - Signed up for my Career Clarity training? Many viewers assume success is driven mainly by individual effort. The truth is that coordinated teamwork often determines how efficiently goals are achieved. The moment reflects how groups combine individual strengths to produce better outcomes. Different skills complement each other within a team. Clear communication reduces errors and improves speed. Shared responsibility increases consistency and reliability. Collaboration allows complex tasks to be completed more effectively. This idea is widely studied in Organizational behavior. The limitation is that teamwork depends on trust, alignment, and effective leadership to function properly. The scene reflects a real principle observed in workplaces, sports, and group activities. No CGI. No editing tricks. This post is shared for educational purposes to highlight the importance of teamwork in achieving success. #Teamwork #SuccessMindset #Collaboration #Leadership

You may be too nice. A crucial leadership lesson I wish I had learned sooner is that overly nice leaders can get overwhelmed, not because kindness is a flaw, but because niceness devoid of standards breeds chaos. In my book, *The Most Dangerous Team in the Room*, I illustrate that teams don’t falter due to a lack of talent; they collapse under the weight of unclear expectations and standards. This ambiguity fosters resentment and deteriorates culture. The solution is straightforward: establish your standards, communicate them clearly and early, and enforce them consistently. If someone cannot meet the baseline of your expectations, it might be time for them to move on. True kindness lies in honesty, while effective leadership is about upholding that honesty. #Leadership #StandardsMatter #KindnessInLeadership
