Please Watch Until End: On the heels of last weekend, where some 8 teens across the city were shot, last night Level Up had its Wednesday “battle night” with our biggest attendance in 6 years, and not a single fight (not even at dismissal at any of the train stops—thanks to @septatransitpolice for always working with us to keep our kids safe!) … This is how we help our youth heal, because every peaceful night/gathering like this helps them [slowly but surely] become addicted to positive outcomes instead of negative outcomes in regards to public gatherings and living life outside the house (which is why many parents never let their kids even leave the house in Philly 😢)… BUT LAST NIGHT, our girl groups battled for the first time, and it was 🔥🔥😱🔥🔥😱🔥🔥😂❤️❤️… they all worked so hard… and our dance battles are not only arguably the biggest in the region, but even mom’s and grandmother’s now come to eat a platter and see their kids perform, and I heard one friend tell another friend in the grilled hamburger line that he was skipping sports practice today because he wanted to come and see his friend battle!! Our city is a beautiful city… And together, we will all continue to let the world know who we are!!! We are bigger than our poverty, bigger than our gun violence , and bigger than our marginalized broken systems… Our babies are warriors; and we are holistically preparing them to take their powerful place in the world 🌍! Big salute to all of our partners and prayer warriors, we could not do this without you! Again, we are the Harlem Rucker Park street basketball @ruckerparkstreetball (big shouts to Swan) of street dance battles!!! Salute again, to our girls—BOTH TEAMS WORKED SOOO HARD!! Look at the passion… Look at their joy!! Look at their big bros and guys supporting them! #LevelUpPhilly #ChangingTheNarrative

So proud of @breakbeatlou for receiving not one, but TWO citations from the City of Philadelphia for his incredible contributions to music and culture. So well deserved! Big congratulations as well to @djspinna for his impactful work and legacy in music. @levelupphilly1 truly blew me away. What an amazing organization doing real work to keep youth off the streets, promote non-violence, and create opportunities rooted in community and care. The love there is real! The food in Philly!
