WIAnother M52 getting set up right! This engine is getting a second chance at life! The donor car was a rolled-over 1997 328ic convertible.
Step one is stripping the engine down. First, we remove all the accessories — water pump, alternator, the automatic transmission and the M52 intake manifold get pulled off and thrown straight in the trash 🗑️
Next, we remove the timing chain cover, motor mounts, AC compressor bracket, oil pan, and all other aluminum parts. They go into a bin and are queued up for a full in-house restoration in our vapor honing cabinet!
The short block and head get disassembled and sent to a local machine shop, where they’re meticulously gone through from top to bottom and prepped for all the new part we having waiting for it. Next we assemble it piece by piece, torquing every nut and bolt to spec and marking them with paint.
This motor will have some fun high-horsepower tricks done to it, and when it’s all said and done, it will be a happy, reliable engine capable of over 1000 horsepower.
If you looked closely at the video, you might’ve noticed a Link ECU — because you read this far we’ll let you in on a secret… the engine will be running on MaxxECU……

JOSo unfortunately there is something going on with the stock bottom end on the 2jz A90 supra. Long story short car felt and was sounding really good, Freddy was being very conservative with the engine as it is a stock bottom end OEM piston engine from 4 years ago. He did his thing on Link ECU and did some steady state tuning on the Mianline dyno, rings seem to be doing their job and engine sounded happy. First run on wastegate pressure it did 413hp so we were looking good. I wanted to have the option of switching from 400 to 600hp on the fly so we can make this bottom end last as much as we could while a short block got put together later on. A breath for Freedy as he can tune these engines with his eyes close 😂.
Four runs in on 11psi of boost on ethanol and unfortunately we have seem to lost compression on a cylinder. I haven’t gone through it yet but working on options at the moment to get it back on the dyno and this thing ripping!
Thank you to Adam for letting me use the Dyno and Freddy for doing your magic even though it was cut short (hope you enjoyed the “quesitos”😞Im just glad so far it seems to just be a bottom end and not taken out this built head. Thank you to my friend Andres for the support and all those close to me too you know who you are! I never planned to do anything crazy with this engine which is part of the reason to not had gone with a built bottom end as it has been proven time and time again that stock oem bottom ends are more than capable of reliably putting down 600hp+. But I’ll figure something out and get this thing out soon! Thank you to everyone involved that have gotten me and this project to this point, can wait to start ripping this thing around! 🙏

HIHere we remember Mauro Soretti´s Mauro Soretti and his 610Hp/650Nm Subaru Impreza WRX STi in its quite rare coupé Type-R specification and fully tuned by Preparazione Soretti. Featuring such goodies likes a Precision turbo, Equal length headers exhaust, and all suspension tuned in-house, and a Body kit from ELTECH ITALIA, alongside a paddle-operated Sequential Gearbox 6 speed by Modena Engineering, with all controlled by a Link ECU. this was one of the difinitive Italian Hillclimb Monsters, still holding a number of Records, and one we hope to see back in action quite soon.
