We set out to trek Salher Fort, back when hardly anyone knew about it. With no direct transport available, we relied on lifts from strangers and started walking early in the morning, trekking nearly 8 to 9 kilometers just to reach the base village. But that was only the beginning.
From the base village, the real trek started. A few minutes in, one of our four friends gave up. He wasn’t used to trekking and decided to stay back. The three of us continued, but then came the next challenge. We had only one bottle of water between us, and the only two water sources were either at the summit or all the way back at the base.
I was completely drained. This was my sixth or seventh trek in a row. My spine hurt, my hamstrings were sore, and I was running on empty. Even walking had become painful. I remember lying down on the trail, ready to quit.
That’s when my friend Mohit, a professional trekker, stood beside me and said,
“All you need is to believe in yourself, Kunal. The pain is temporary. But if you quit now, the regret will last forever.”
Those words lit a fire in me. We got back up and kept going.
After an entire day of walking and climbing, we finally reached the summit, just as the sun was setting. And in that moment of exhaustion and victory, I captured this drone shot.
This frame isn’t just a video. It’s a reminder that when you push through your limits and believe in yourself, the reward is always worth it.
