Most moms have never heard of MTHFR… but it could be the hidden reason your child struggles to detox. 💡 MTHFR is a gene mutation that makes it hard for the body to convert folic acid (the synthetic stuff in most prenatals, formulas and in any “enriched food” product) into active folate — the form your body and your child can actually use. And they NEED it for the body to preform detoxification properly. When folic acid piles up and the real folate isn’t available, detox slows. Toxins, heavy metals, and even parasites can build up — and for my daughter, it showed up as a toxicity-induced developmental delay. This is so common in today’s world. Possible signs of MTHFR issues in kids (and adults): • Sensory sensitivities • Speech delays • Chronic constipation • Dark under-eye circles • Skin rashes or eczema • Extreme reactions to vaccines or medications • Fatigue despite good sleep When I learned about MTHFR, I removed all the folic acid from the foods in our home and I switched her to a kids vitamin with methylfolate (the active form her body could use instantly) and started her on a gentle zeolite detox to pull out heavy metals and toxins. Within one week… she went from nonverbal to verbal — and even passed parasites. 💬 Her little voice breaking through after all that time still makes me cry. PLEASE KNOW: I really don’t like synthetic vitamins. We should be getting our nutrients from food. So if you do choose to supplement, only do it for a short time. The body has to work really hard to utilize synthetics and their little livers are already taking on too much. I’d just focus on feeding foods high in folate like eggs, beans and greens. Once you remove the folic acid, the body can use the folate from food! 🍼 What I used for her: ✅ PBX Zeolite Detox – nano-sized zeolite to pull heavy metals, pesticides, and environmental toxins gently and safely (ITS ON SALE FOR $5 INCLUDING SHIPPING THIS WEEK ONLY) 💬 Save this for later & share with another mama who’s searching for answers. Comment GENE and I’ll send you the daily detox you need and my site for easy mail in testing! #mthfr #parents #momssupportingmoms

Your Genes Are Not Your Destiny So many people get labeled with “poor methylation” or “bad genes,” while the real issue is chronic stress shutting down their biology’s ability to function. Dr. Jess shares how her methylation went from 80 percent to zero after years of trauma, flatlining her cortisol and depleting key nutrients. This wasn’t a genetic flaw... it was a stress response. And here’s the key: Epigenetics changes based on your life experiences. Stress can dysregulate your body, but safety, nutrition, and healing can shift it back. If you’ve felt stuck because of a genetic test result, this conversation offers hope. Your health story is not predetermined. 🎙️Clip from Podcast: hol+ by Dr. Taz MD 🎧Listen now on ALL podcast platforms 💬Comment “PODCAST” to get the link sent straight to your DM👇 and watch the full episode. #HolPlus #DrJessPeatross #DrTaz #Epigenetics #MTHFR #StressHealing #RootCause #ChronicStress #Cortisol #FunctionalMedicine #AutoimmuneDisease #TraumaHealing #HealingJourney #MindBodyConnection

The MTHFR gene actually has NOTHING to do WITH “detoxing”, glutathione or vaccines. Also has nothing to do with “sugar bugs”, sacral dimples, tongue ties and has no purpose for testing in children. I even have three videos showing the physiological pathway proving this point if you want to nerd out… #mthfr #kids #detox

WHY MTHFR CAN LOOK LIKE ADHD ⬇️ ⭐️ SAVE AND SHARE THIS!⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ Comment 👉GUIDE👈 for a link to my Practical Guide to MTHFR Gene Mutations (and an exclusive discount)!⭐️⭐️ If you’ve been labeled “distracted,” “lazy,” or “all over the place,” this might finally explain why none of that ever felt accurate. With MTHFR, the issue usually isn’t intelligence or effort. It’s that your brain struggles to keep neurotransmitters available at the right pace. Think of it like this: Your brain needs a steady flow of chemicals like dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin to stay organized and calm. With MTHFR, that flow can be inconsistent. Sometimes things build up. Other times your system can’t keep up. That’s why focus can feel unpredictable. You might hyperfocus when something is interesting or urgent, then completely lose traction on simple, boring tasks. Not because you don’t care, but because your brain chemistry isn’t evenly supported. This also explains why so many people with MTHFR-related ADHD feel: • mentally wired but physically tired • overstimulated by noise, stress, or caffeine • worse with standard stimulant approaches • calmer once inflammation, nutrient gaps, and stress load are addressed The common mistake is treating this like a motivation or discipline problem. Or assuming more stimulation is always the answer. What actually matters more is reducing the background noise your brain is fighting: • nutrient bottlenecks that affect neurotransmitter production • chronic stress that drains your system faster than it can recover • inflammation that makes signals feel too loud or chaotic Once you understand that, a lot of self-blame starts to fall away. If this resonates, my Practical Guide to MTHFR walks through how to support your and body when you have MTHFR variants so you can feel better than those who don’t have them. #mthfr #adhd #focus #fatigue #energy

Ever take a B vitamin and suddenly feel like you’ve had three cups of coffee? 🫨 Dr. Austin Lake shares how his whole family has the MTHFR gene…and how switching to a methylated B complex changed their energy almost instantly. Here’s why: methylated B vitamins are already in the active form your body needs. Instead of your body struggling to convert them, they go straight into helping your cells make energy, support detox pathways, and fuel brain function…so you actually feel the difference. If you’re eating well and your labs look “normal” but you still feel exhausted or hormonally off, you don’t want to miss this conversation I had with Austin. My experience with the MTHFR gene! 🧬 Whenever I have a friend going through an unexplained illness, or a long period of feeling horrible, one of the first things I ask them is if they have gotten checked to see if they have this gene! If you think it looks like the motherfcker gene, well, it kind of is a motherfcker. I will let the doctors get into the science behind it, but this is my personal experience, and things I’ve been told to do as a way to manage my lifestyle with it! I’m curious to hear from you all! What were your symptoms that led you to discovering you had it and what Do you do to help? Xx #nobread

Ochratoxin A is not just a gut issue it is a dopamine disruptor with direct neurological consequences. This mycotoxin, commonly found in grains and excessive carbohydrates, has been shown to selectively impact three critical brain regions: • Basal Ganglia – drives initiation, involuntary movement, stimming, impulsivity, and even stuttering. Basically the Go and Stop button in the frontal lobe. • Striatum (Midbrain) – dopamine regulation, eye movements, fixation, focus, eye contact, convergence • Hippocampus – cognition, learning speed, memory (from hyper-memorization to learning delays) Now connect the dots: Many autistic children consume large amounts of breads, rice, pasta, crackers. Carbohydrates mold. Even sealed foods can harbor fungal toxins. Add MTHFR variants, impaired detox pathways, gut dysbiosis, and intestinal permeability—and suddenly you have a direct gut → brain toxin pathway. Through the vagus nerve and a compromised gut barrier, these toxins can inhibit, suppress, or overstimulate specific brain circuits depending on where the inflammation lands. Autism is not just behavioral. It is biochemical. Neurological. Metabolic. And when you address the root drivers, the brain can change.

If you’re eating clean, cutting calories. Moving more. trying to be consistent… and your weight still isn’t changing, there might be something else going on preventing fat loss. It’s usually a liver + bile flow issue. You might notice it as: heaviness after meals low energy or afternoon crashes feeling puffy or inflamed weight that just won’t budge no matter how disciplined you are Pushing hard harder, restricting, and eating less will not fix this problem. when your liver is under pressure, your body holds onto fat to protect you. So instead of pushing, we support. Start simple: Epsom salt foot baths Castor oil over the abdomen Dandelion tea 2x per day Sautéed cabbage Eat every 3–4 hours with ~20g protein per meal As your body starts to feel better and digestion improves, then you can add: Magnesium citrate Taurine Milk thistle Artichoke extract NAC or glutathione Cruciferous veggies Don’t skip liver support and if your weight loss program doesn’t include it, you may need a different program. It’s not about doing more. It’s about doing the right things in the right order so your body can respond. If you want a simple walkthrough of how your liver, thyroid, and metabolism are all connected (and what to do step by step), I put it into a free email course. The "Folic Acid" myth ends here. 🛑✋ Did you know that up to 40% of women have a genetic variation (MTHFR) that prevents them from processing synthetic Folic Acid? This means the very supplement you're taking to help your baby might not be getting absorbed at all. 🤯 The upgrade? Methylfolate. It’s the active form your body can actually use to support a healthy pregnancy from day one. ✨ Stop guessing, start knowing. 🧬 MTHFR means slower processing. MTHFR is a gene that helps your body convert folate (B9) into a usable form. Some people do this conversion less efficiently - like me 🙋🏻‍♀️ 👉 When that happens: • Methylation runs slower • Detox pathways don’t work as smoothly • Hormones, chemicals, and toxins can linger longer • Synthetic folic acid is not well tolerated Simple analogy: Detox is your body’s trash system. MTHFR makes the garbage truck run less often. If you don’t support it, trash piles up. 🧠 What actually helps: • Folate from real foods or active forms your body can use • Supporting liver + gut function (milkthistle, dandelion root tea, regular bowel movements) • Lowering toxic exposure where possible (use binders) 👉 it’s about working with your biology instead of against it. And this new law is absolutely working against it! 😡 California just did the same thing with all the tortillas and corn masa state wide. And GUESS WHAT???? Latinas/Hispanics often showing higher rates of the MTHFR gene!
