Hair loss is rarely just one thing. 🧬💇‍♀️ Over the last 4–5 years, I’ve dealt with major hair issues. I recently found out my mercury levels were sky high — partly because I was eating fish every single day. When I cut back (no more daily fish), my mercury slowly came back down to normal, and the hair loss stopped. But here’s the kicker: at the same time, menopause was also changing my hair — making it duller and thinner (shoutout to the faux po!). Now I’m starting a new supplement and shampoo — I’ll keep you posted on how it goes. Lesson: you can have more than one factor at play — and sometimes it takes looking at the whole picture to find the answer. 6-week hair update 💇🏻‍♀️✨ As many of you know, I’ve been on quite the hair journey these past five years — thanks to menopause, styling and dye damage, COVID, diet changes, mercury… basically all of the above. I’m now six weeks into trying a new shampoo, conditioner, and supplement, and the difference is real. My hair feels fuller, healthier, more moisturized (no more straw!) and dare I say… shinier? One thing I do every night: use a scalp massager — it boosts blood flow to the base of the hair follicle, can assist with growth and feels amazing. In my clinic, I saw a pattern: the vast majority of women experienced rising cholesterol levels without changes in diet or exercise. When I dug deeper, I learned that the pathophysiology behind this wasn’t even discovered until 2014—and we’ve known since the 1990s that this shift happens independent of lifestyle.
