Critics of meat consumption are firmly convinced [and will do their best to convince you] of these false narratives, despite the softness of data supporting such claims - almost all of which are based on epidemiological associations (= low-quality evidence). Higher protein Intakes (both animal and plant) do not have high quality evidence that shows it’s associated with all-cause, cardiovascular disease - or c@ncer-related mortality risk, despite sensationalized headlines. 2. We know the RDA for protein, which hasn’t changed in 30 years, is 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight, which is the MINIMUM to prevent deficiencies. 3. According to a Journal of Nutrition meta-analysis and systematic review of more than two dozen studies (PMID: 30383278), involving hundreds of participants, processing large amounts (>=1.5 g/kg) of protein does not lead to a decline in healthy kidney function. This thought came from the fact people with kidney failure/ reduced kidney function are generally put on a low-protein diet to not overburden the kidneys. 4. Short-term intervention studies- using energy-balanced diets, have shown that high-protein diets are more satiating than diets lower in protein. Weight loss requires a calorie deficit and dietary protein is critical in protecting lean muscle mass, which ultimately leads to high quality weight loss in the form of fat loss. In fact, women after they hit menopause, they lose bane mass real quick and that makes them susceptible to fractures. Weight training can easily prevent the loss of muscle and bone, and can significantly improve the quality of life. Weight Training is the anti aging solution we all need. . Lift weights, ladies. I don’t have time to exercise !! 😅😅😅😅 This lie you have told yourself and believe to that extent that you tell your surgeon the same thing is the main reason we have such a lot of sickness and suffering in this generation. I plan my 14 hour work day which usually involves 1. seeing around 15 to 25 patients in the out patient department. 2. 1 to 3 surgeries a day. 3. Train super specialist orthopedic surgeons. 4. Creating content on social media and the reading that goes with. I write down when I am going to exercise during the day first ( write it ) it can even be ten minutes to start . The rest of my work is planned around it , of course unless if there are emergencies and unexpected calls . Focus on your physical health, activity and strength . The stronger and more disciplined you are , the better you will be at everything you do . Exercise especially strength training and endurance training decreases death of brain cells and improves your ability to problem solve which I really need as an orthopedic surgeon . FIND TIME TO EXERCISE, to reduce your visits to the hospital. I thank @gokul_srinivasan and @aviategym who lovingly accommodate my schedule . And of course my fighting coach @mma_rahul and my gang of friends with common interests in exercise. #musclemass #strength #workout #surgeon #discipline #orthosurgeon #memory
