I want to give you my unadulterated thoughts on AI and what it has done to me as a creative, a musician, producer, and songwriter.
AI is a powerhouse.
I see both sides. Incredibly powerful tools. But there is this DEEP sadness that we've crippled the future of independent musicians who want to make music a full time gig. This is getting bad, and it is only the beginning.
This is hitting me harder because my entire life has been structured around indie artists and the creative gifts of real humans. God given gifts.
About 18 months ago, I sat by my fire and recorded a video predicting the downfall of the music industry as we know it.
I feel torn.
The good thing is we may go back to a world where live music matters. But right now, bedroom musicians, instrumentalists, streaming musicians are COOKED. 95% of the world cannot tell the difference between a computer and a human, and that irritates me more than I could ever put into words.
Do I use Suno to help produce? Yes. Do I use it to give me music ideas? Yes. So am I part of the problem? most likely. It's powerful. Again, I'm torn. But there are some lines I can't cross and that's calling anyone a songwriter/musician/artist and you actually suck ass at music.
Strange times.
I am grateful and heartbroken at the same time. I am frustrated and also curious about what comes next.
If there is anything I can do to help the musician, the small creative, the independent artist with a dream to share their story with the world, I am fully in.

When Steven Tyler shares the stage with Nuno Bettencourt for “More Than Words”, the arena disappears and all that’s left is honesty carried by six strings and a voice that’s lived a thousand lifetimes.
Originally released by Extreme in 1990, “More Than Words” became one of the most unexpected acoustic breakthroughs of its era.
Written by Gary Cherone and Nuno Bettencourt, the track stripped away the glam metal aesthetic that dominated late 80s rock and replaced it with minimalist fingerstyle guitar work and intimate vocal phrasing.
Bettencourt’s percussive acoustic technique combined melody and rhythm into one instrument, allowing the vocals to exist in a conversational emotional register rather than a theatrical one.
When artists like Steven Tyler step into this sonic space live, the performance transforms from a ballad into a shared confession.
“More Than Words” quietly dismantles performative love. Its central theme questions whether affection means anything without action behind it.
The simplicity of the arrangement mirrors the message. Nothing is hidden behind production.
Live performances especially highlight the fragility in the pauses between phrases, making the song feel less like a statement and more like a promise being tested in real time.

We are working on one of my favorite Sonny Rollins solos on “Without A Song” as well as Stan Getz’s legendary solo on “Girl From Ipanema.”
The first step before even picking up your horn is listening to the song and solo non stop and then SINGING it. Don’t skip this step because it really helps you internalize it and will save you time when you pick up the horn to learn. Get as close as you can singing all of the articulations ie: staccato notes, legato notes, bends, cut offs.
