It’s designed to tackle the big parent worries: * Who they’re talking to * What they’re seeing * How long they’re online Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to turn on Parental Supervision: 1) Simply open Instagram, and go to settings and privacy by clicking the three lines at the top. 2) Tap Family Centre. 3) From there, you send an invite to your teen to pair your account with theirs. ‘People say my five-year-old’s legs look squashed – but travelling rear-facing is five times safer.’ Mum Ciara Polhill says she often gets comments when her daughter travels rear-facing in the car, but she keeps both her children facing backwards because it offers far better protection for a child’s head, neck and spine in a crash. In the UK, children must use a car seat until they are 12 years old or 135cm tall, whichever comes first. Babies must stay rear-facing until at least 15 months in newer i-Size (R129) seats, although some older weight-based seats allow forward-facing from around 9kg. However, many safety experts recommend keeping children rear-facing for as long as possible – often until around age four – because the seat absorbs crash forces and supports a child’s body while their bones are still developing.
