Most popular men’s underwear brands are made primarily from polyester and elastane.
Polyester is plastic.
Plastic-based materials are widely recognized as endocrine-disrupting at a chemical level, meaning they can interfere with normal hormonal signaling in the body. When the endocrine system is disrupted, it creates a biological environment that favors inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, and impaired cellular communication — all conditions in which disease, including cancer, is better able to survive and progress.
Now place that plastic:
• directly against the skin
• over the most hormone-sensitive tissue in the male body
• in an area designed to stay cool, dry, and well-ventilated
Synthetic underwear traps heat and moisture. As body temperature rises, plastic fibers warm, friction increases, and the body is exposed longer and more intensely to materials it was never designed to interact with at that location.
When we repeatedly expose the body to:
• excess heat
• poor airflow
• plastic fibers
• chemical finishes
• chronic low-grade irritation
we slowly shift the internal environment in the wrong direction.
That’s why I recommend 100% cotton underwear for men whenever possible.
Cotton:
• breathes
• releases heat
• absorbs moisture instead of trapping it
• contains no plastic fibers
• supports normal physiology instead of fighting it
If you care about hormonal health, fertility, metabolic resilience, and reducing unnecessary toxic load — this is one of the simplest swaps you can make.
We don’t need perfection.
We need fewer unnecessary stressors — especially where the body is most vulnerable.
