If not, then please educate on how perpetrators abuse and what happens when children do tell. ⠀ ⠀ A child has to know what is happening to them is even considered abuse. They have to know they can ask for help. But, it’s not just about knowledge- it’s also about risk.⠀ ⠀ Children that are being abused are very good at calculating their risk. They know how their parent will probably react if they tell. They may know what happened to another child that told. The child definitely knows what the abuser will do if they try to tell but are not believed and protected. ⠀ ⠀ If we want children to tell, give them a reason they should.
