POThis big guy doesn’t care that it’s not summer yet. He decided it was the perfect time for a dip in the pool anyway! Such a gentle giant, just looking to relax and cool off.
Fact of the day: Male bears have large home ranges, typically between 15 and 80 square miles, depending on food availability. In contrast, female bears usually stay within a smaller range, under 10 square miles.
This particular bear is the first tagged one we've seen on our property. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife uses ear tags to monitor bear behavior and track their movements when people report them.
It’s a good reminder for those of us living near bear habitats: please don’t feed the bears, and always bear-proof your trash. Doing so helps prevent bears from becoming “nuisance bears” and ensures they stay safe in the urban areas, lets learn to cohabitate.

Now millions around the world are watching this sensation of the pool bears.
