Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back. So this cats out! Howdy and welcome back to the final part of our garage storage bin ceiling rails. Mission accomplished! Custom fitted, durable, and smooth...   Get some good lag bolts, I prefer Spax PowerLags (1/4” x 3 ½”). Use a proper drill bit for the pre-drill.   The joists were previously identified. However, a visible low-voltage wire passed right below. I didn’t want to place the rails over the wire so I used my circular saw and chisel to chip out 1/4”.   Installation took 2 days (and many mistakes). Being a one man show, I strategically placed 2 ladders to help with the load. Have you ever used support jacks? Total game changer.   In total, 6 lags were used for each rail. Prior to fastening the bolts, the lid was run through to ensure sufficient spacing. Only time can tell how long these rails will stay up, but so far, so good!   Check out my stories for a few more details.
