It’s usually failing because of two things: 1️⃣ Too much freedom too soon 2️⃣ Punishing accidents Puppies don’t magically know where to go. If you give them full access to your house, you’re also giving them full access to make mistakes. And when you punish after an accident? You don’t teach them where to toilet — you teach them to hide. Successful potty training = ✔ Management ✔ Timing ✔ Supervision ✔ Rewarding the right behaviour Your puppy isn’t naughty. They’re learning. When positioned correctly a slip lead provides better control, clearer communication, and safer positioning around the neck. Every trainer has their own tools and methods, and I respect that.
