TOIf you’re always on, are you ever on???
It’s obvious you have to rest your body. Cos that’s when you recover, adapt and get stronger.
But a lot of people forget about mental recovery.
So outside of track have goals, do something productive. School, Work, Hobbies, Friendships give them your energy as well.
Focusing solely on your sport performance isn’t healthy, and long term it’s not sustainable. if something goes wrong on track it’s easy to feel it’s the end of the world if you have nothing else going for you.
Especially for young athletes. The average age of a first time Olympian is 25!!!
So you can’t just give up your life and become a stale robot that only trains until then. You’ll burn out 🏴☠️
And even then, life’s about living. So train hard, train smart, and when you can DO THE THINGS YOU LOVE!
For me I try to make sure they’re not physically demanding so my body recovers. And they give me space to mentally switch off
Because the worst thing you in the build up to a race, is run it a thousand times in your head before you even get to the start line….Trust me you’ll be shattered
British Champs this weekend, so yes i’ll be resting my legs more this week, but life continues regardless
