Don’t spend thousands on a product management training! I became a Product Manager in less than 6 months after I made the transition with ZERO tech background. And I took only ONE course before I got my first PM job. I’ve recommended this course to so many people over the years and they’ve landed PM roles too. Comment “Product Manager” and I’ll send you the exact course I took on @udemy. There are no future proof jobs. But AI can’t replicate a nonlinear path. follow me bc we’re writing the nonlinear career playbook i quit investment banking in my mid 20s with no plan. then quit product management. now I’ve built a nonlinear career across startups and marketing, and my own business in the creator economy. i've never felt more secure - not because any single thing is stable or “future proof” , but because nothing can take all of it away at once and I’ve built things no employer can take away: • credibility • capital • adaptability this series is the playbook i wish i had when i was sitting in a banking chair at 2am wondering if i'd wasted my entire career and if there was another path, and again 2 years ago when i started creating content because i was scared of getting laid off in tech 📣 if you’re figuring out what’s next, dm me “learn” to join my free training on Tues March 24 on how to leave the golden handcuffs behind 🏷️ nonlinear careers, career change, career advice, AI jobs, career pivot, investment banking, consulting, tech careers, career transition, personal branding, future of work, career playbook

☕️👇how this 15-min coffee chat ➜ turned into a 2-hour chat ➜ and a job referral She is proof that even as a non-traditional applicant, by showing agency and thoughtfulness, you can get a job referral. Here’s why she stood out: 𝟭. 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 What most people say when I ask “How are you?” → “Good, how are you?” What she said: → “I’m doing great! I just watched a Claude Code tutorial and I’m excited to try it after our call.” Why this worked: ✅ She signaled agency (learning on her own time) ✅ She signaled energy (genuine excitement) ✅ She signaled she’d drive the conversation (I could relax) 𝟮. 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱/𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿 She made it very clear that she had read my Substack post about pivoting between PM roles (AR research → ed tech → creator tools). Her question: “How did you decide when to diversify your experience versus deepen your expertise?” Good question. But she didn’t stop there. 𝟯. 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂. 𝗔𝘀𝗸 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗮 𝘃𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝗮 𝗯𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. She explained her specific dilemma: why she was having a hard time picking between product marketing and product management. She pointed out the similarities between our paths AND the differences. She synthesized everything I needed to help her. That’s how she made it easy for me to want to help her. — coffee chat tips, networking advice, how to stand out in interviews, informational interview script, product management career advice, non traditional background, career pivot strategy, portfolio career, pivot into tech, break into tech, career growth, career advanement, first impression tips, how to ask for career advice, professional networking strategies, PM interview prep, coffee chat questions, how to network effectively, career transition advice, building professional relationships, how to find a mentor at work, career mentorship, questions to ask during coffee chat

If you are at 5 LPA:

This jump doesn’t happen via appraisal. It happens via switch + skill premium + negotiation power. Step 1: Understand the Math If you are at 5 LPA: • 20% appraisal → 6 LPA • 30% → 6.5 LPA You will need 5–6 years to reach 15 LPA internally. So rule #1: 👉 Never depend on internal hikes for 3X growth. Switching companies gives 40%–120% jump. Step 2: Become a 15 LPA Candidate Before You Apply Companies don’t pay for experience. They pay for impact + scarcity skills. Ask yourself: At 5 LPA, are you: • Executing tasks? OR • Solving revenue / cost / growth problems? 15 LPA candidates: ✔ Handle ownership ✔ Speak business language ✔ Show measurable results Step 3: Pick High-Paying Tracks Some roles cap at 6–8 LPA. Some roles naturally pay 12–20 LPA in 3–5 years. High-paying tracks in India: • Product Management • Data Analytics • Growth Marketing • Performance Marketing • Tech Roles • Strategy / Consulting • Enterprise Sales Look at companies like: • Google • Amazon • Deloitte • Accenture • Tata Consultancy Services Step 4: Upgrade Skill → Show Proof → Build Visibility Don’t just “learn”. Package. Example: Instead of saying: “I did marketing.” Say: “I scaled ad campaigns from 1L to 5L monthly spend with 3.2x ROAS.” Step 5: Switch Smart Best hiring months: ✔ February – April ✔ July – September Why? Budget approvals + new projects. Apply aggressively in these windows. Step 6: Master Salary Negotiation When HR asks: “What is your current CTC?” You say: “My current is 5, but I am interviewing for roles in the 12–16 range based on market alignment.” Never anchor at 5. Let them anchor high. Step 7: Get Multiple Offers One offer = weak power Two offers = negotiation power Companies increase 10–30% when they know you have another offer. Step 8: Fix Your LinkedIn Positioning Since you are already strong in content + strategic thinking: Instead of: “Executive at XYZ” Use: “Growth-focused marketing professional helping brands scale revenue through data-led campaigns.” Follow @rakshaforsure1 for more such updates 🥰

Market is tough, don’t waste months and years chasing MBA, long term certifications & a perfect role. Early 20s is too soon to settle or lock yourself in a role. You will never know what you are made for if you don’t experiment. Here are 7 entry level non tech job roles you will easily get: 1. Business Development Executive: Yes it will be a bit sales oriented but 5 years from now you will realise this skill is more important than even AI. No AI will ever be able to replace this skill. 2. HR Recruiter/ HR Assistant: If you are empathetic and loves creative strategy roles, This role has the potential to give you a 200% spike and become HR consultant in under 5 years. 3. Accountant: This experience can always be topped up with CPA, CMA and ACCA. CFA, NISM, FRM if core finance and IB are your target. They appreciate people coming with accounting experience because they already know how financial statements looks in the systems. 4. Customer Support Representative: Operations, KPO, Compliance, KYC/ AML could be your next targets. 5. Digital Marketing Analyst/ Executive: I can keep talking about this role for hours. Growth marketing, product management, performance marketing are all high paying roles that values DM experience exponentially. 6. Content writing / Copywriting: If you can put out words without showing face that grabs mass attention, this is for you. To start- just reach out to small creators and tell them you want to help with scripting. Add this as a freelancing gig or project in resume. 7. Project Co ordinator : people will keep telling you its an IT role but it you read job descriptions, you will know it’s a blend of both. Technical + Soft skills. Which one you love out of these 7? Any question- Use comment box (Career, fresher, student, job, professional, job search) #career #fresher #student #job #jobsearch #hiring #employment #entrylevel

If you’re an engineer working full-time and considering Product Management, this roadmap focuses on the steps you can take to transition into Product Management. This is the approach we followed. 📒PHASE 1: First 30 Days: PM Mindset & Reality Check 🎯Goal: Understand how a PM’s job is fundamentally different from an engineer’s. What to do: 1. Observe PMs in your company: - How they run discussions - How they handle ambiguity - How decisions are made and communicated Watch targeted content only on: 1. Agile & product development lifecycle 2. Stakeholder management 3. Prioritization frameworks (RICE, MoSCoW, etc.) 4. Business basics: Product success metrics, revenue, costs 5. Design principles Actively note: 1. What PMs are responsible for 2. What they are not responsible for **Engineers optimize for correctness. PMs optimize for outcomes under constraints** If this difference doesn’t excite you, PM may not be the right move, and that clarity itself is success. 📒PHASE 2: Next 60 Days: Signal Creation (Where Transitions Are Won) 🎯Goal: Start behaving like a PM before having the title. What to do: 1. Rewrite resume bullets as: Context → Decision → Outcome 2. Volunteer for: - Requirement clarification - Trade-off discussions - Stakeholder syncs 3. Start documenting: - Why a feature exists - What problem it solves - What metric defines success **PM interviews are storytelling exercises. Most candidates fail because they never collect decision stories.** 📒PHASE 3: 90–120 Days: Structured Transition 🎯Goal: Switch roles with clarity and control. What to do: 1. Attempt internal switching first. Speak to your manager, showcase your learnings and express interest. 2. Apply externally if 1 does not work. Focus on resume and case study prep. 3. Iterate after each rejection. - Resume framing - Story depth - Problem clarity ** Don’t worry if you do not fit a job description perfectly. Mass apply, and something would click.** #productmanagement #career #9to5 #engineering #corporatecouple
