Run-D.M.C. performing “It’s Like That” Live at the 25th of September, 1984 at the Capitol Theatre
This song was part of Run-D.M.C.’s debut single and it was written by the rappers Run & D.M.C. along with their producer Larry Smith. The song doesn’t feature any samples as it was programmed on a Oberheim DMX synthesizer with vocal punctuations mixed in. Inspiration for the song struck when Run studied Kurtis Blow style of rapping and decided he too must tell stories in his raps in order to have a wider appeal. Upon completion, this was the song that convinced Russell Simmons to work with the group. The release of the song as a single marked the beginning of Run-D.M.C.’s career and it helped introduce a new school of hip hop artists with a street image and an abrasive, minimalist sound that marked them out from their predecessors.

RUI stumbled onto this vintage hip hop, "It's Like That", while searching the internet looking for something spiritual, Stoicism motivational videos, food for the soul (not true, just a compulsive online shopping spree at Tokopedia heheh).
"It's Like That" is the debut single of Run-D.M.C., first released in 1983 back with the track "Sucker M.C.s". The release marked the start of Run-D.M.C.'s career and is widely regarded as ushering in a new school of hip hop artists with a street image and abrasive, minimalist sound that marked them out from their predecessors. "It's Like That" would be named by fans one of Run-D.M.C.'s signature songs.
The song is a socially conscious song that address the struggles in urban life, including unemployment, poverty, and inequality. Despite protesting those issues, it takes on a hopeful message encouraging listeners to abandon prejudice and to believe in themselves.
In 1997, a new version of "It's Like That" by American producer Jason Nevins was released. The Nevins version gained massive popularity worldwide, topping charts in several countries and revitalising interest in the original track, making it a significant hit almost 14 years after the song's initial release.
Entertainment Weekly gave it an A, commenting, "The combination of Run-D.M.C.'s old school braggadocio and Nevins' new -school grooves demonstrates how club sounds constantly revitalise themselves, as well as displaying the historical links between seemingly disparate dance-music styles. Most important, it rocks the house."
The first part of the video taken from 1985's "Krush Groove" movie and, the last part, I mixed it with Jason Nevins' version.
