SUMLK Day: Honoring Dr. King’s Legacy at re:loom
On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the re:loom joined forces with the RCE Greater Atlanta coordinators and fellows in a day of service. We helped to clean up the re:loom’s warehouse to create more space for operations and retail expansion. This project began last year with our RCE fellows, who helped organize volunteer events and a culminating craft sale to clear out thousands of pounds of yarn and other craft materials.
re:loom’s mission is to provide job training and financial stability to low-income or unhoused community members. Weavers learn how to use floor looms along with other job training skills. They use upcycled fabric from the community and business partners to create beautiful hand-woven products that divert textile waste from landfills. The sales of these products support the salaries of the weavers and toward the operational expenses of Initiative for Affordable Housing (501(c)3- whose mission is to provide transitional housing and social services to families in need. In addition, IAH offers affordable housing at its various properties throughout Dekalb and Fulton counties.
It was an inspiring experience to give back to our community and honor Dr. King’s dream of a more just and equitable world.

KAUpdate I’ve got both harnesses on my basement floor I’m going to try and keep it as stock as possible and reloom / tape everything. Terminals need cleaned, resistance testing needs to be done practically everywhere. The harness got burnt at one point and several wires are just falling apart due to heat cycling over the years. All this cowboy butt connector sh*t gotta go there’s way too many. This is several years worth of electrical issues in this harness.
