That futuristic motorcycle glowing in the dark. Street Hawk was NBC’s answer to the high-tech hero wave — part Knight Rider, part sci-fi fever dream. The concept was simple: a cop gets injured, the government rebuilds him with a prototype super bike that can hit 300 mph and fight crime at night. That’s it. And honestly? That was enough. The show only lasted one season, but the intro theme and that sleek bike design stuck with people. It had that glossy mid-’80s vibe — synth music, slow-mo action, dramatic stares. It wasn’t deep television. It was pure cool-factor TV. And sometimes that’s all you need. Strangely, the original version of the theme isn’t attached to the pilot episode on Paramount+, but you can still find it on YouTube and other sites. It’s mind-boggling how good Five-O’s cinematography was for its time. That was one of the first things that struck me about the series—how modern it felt. Shooting the show on location in Hawaii was certainly an added bonus, with all the bright colors and striking landscapes for the cameramen to work with! 🌊 🌺
