ZAIt’s time to rewild the human experience again—outside of the boundaries we have placed between ourselves and the very nature we are composed of.
At our core, there is no separation between our species and the intelligence of the Earth. There is no us vs. nature. Survival perhaps, and our need to navigate the Earth’s conditions in order to do so. Yet is it really about navigating nature as though it’s opposed to us, or more so about living alongside nature—as an ally, as something that challenges us?
This is the wisdom that has carried our species for thousands of years—and so long as we are alive, it is not lost of us.
Rewilding is a process of remembrance. Our separation from this truth has caused a great deal of suffering on Earth.
We may not be able to change the entire course of humanity, but we surely can take part in a cascade of shifts simply by remembering who we are at the core.
Without the separation. Without the fear of nature. Without the lack of reverence for life itself.
And it may begin with how we engage with the world upon our first waking breath. Rather than turning to the phone or the email, or to the never-ending to-do list, we turn to the sun. We feel the heat on our face and witness the sky’s masterpiece unfolding before us.
We stay present with the water in our cup and on our hands—acknowledging its life force, feeling the immense gratitude that we even have it in the first place.
We slow down with our food—consciously knowing where it comes from and the labor and sacrifice that made it possible to nourish us.
We touch the ground beneath our feet and the trees without the boundaries of shoes and gloves and allow it to enliven our senses. To fully merge ourselves with the medicine all around us.
We feel the wind hitting our skin and give gratitude rather than running to the first sign of comfort. We reconnect ourselves not just in thought, but in complete immersion.
To rewild is really to return.

WAAnother raw clip (but with a little tune attached) from the 2022 Rewilding Britain garden at @the_rhs Chelsea. This was a quick walk around the garden at the end of the day - guest appearance by legendary landscaper, Rob Bartlett. This was an incredible garden to build, challenging to make the water look ‘beavery’ but immensely satisfying. Vision and design by @urquhart_hunt, build by @lalandscapes, walling by @hillside_conservation, watery things by us, with many others I’ve no doubt forgotten to mention (let me know and we’ll tag you in). Bravo! 👏
