DESRE vs DevOps Engineer | Save this for later📩
✅ DevOps Engineer → Responsible for building the foundation that allows teams to ship code faster. They work on CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, automation, IaC (Terraform/Ansible), and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes). Their main goal: seamless delivery from dev to production.
✅ SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) → A specialized role born at Google. They use software engineering practices to solve operational problems—uptime, monitoring, incident management, error budgets, SLIs/SLOs. Their main goal: keep systems reliable, resilient, and cost-efficient.
Similarity → Both aim to reduce manual work, automate processes, and ensure scalable systems.
Difference → DevOps focuses on “delivering quickly and efficiently,” while SRE focuses on “running it reliably once delivered.”
Salaries in India (average):
• DevOps Engineer → ₹8–18 LPA
• SRE → ₹10–22 LPA (slightly higher as the role is reliability-driven and less common)

LIThe beauty about tech is there is no one path. 🌱
One of the biggest lessons throughout my journey has been that what felt like the hardest parts often involved “figuring out my next growth step”. The decision is sometimes harder than the execution.⚙️ Overtime, I learned those phases of “going in circles” are totally normal & actually a lot of the work within your journey. 🔁 For example, it took me a while to figure out that I would like to go in to SRE from webdev etc.

💻 2018: Started teaching myself Cloud Computing via certs & projects, specifically AWS
💻 2020: Shifted in to an SRE role to work in Cloud on Infra end & later infrastructure/devops

Find the process
ps aux | grep app.py
Attach strace
sudo strace -p <PID>
Now you can see if the process is:
• Waiting for disk I/O
• Stuck on network calls
• Reading files repeatedly
• Blocked on a resource
This simple Linux tool can reveal **exactly what your application is doing internally** during an incident.
