Lots of people have been asking about this since my video last week and it’s time to set the record straight. Call 159 - don’t wait to clear the line! ☎️ This is true regardless of whether you’re on mobile or landline (my Dad’s attempted fraud was on mobile, FYI) 👍

“Click.” The line went dead in 4 seconds. A calm voice says he’s from “Bank of America”: “We’re seeing a suspicious charge for $520. Was that you?” Most people instantly start explaining. “No, I didn’t buy anything.” And just like that, you’re already in their game. The Federal Reserve reports the average loss from phone scams is about $950. From the call to the transfer — about 11 minutes. Manipulators work through stress and pressure. They create panic (“your funds may be taken right now”), offer a quick fix (“read the code from the text”), and collect your data. A 2023 Group-IB study found that 73% of victims start answering questions from manipulators within the first 20 seconds of the call. Here’s the paradox: manipulators do NOT see your purchases. They call blindly. All they have is leak data — a card number, sometimes your name. No purchases. No payment history. A former bank call-center worker explained: “When I call a client, I see their transactions in real time. I already know they bought coffee for $4 an hour ago.” Manipulators don’t know that. They follow a script and pull data out of you with questions. One arrested scammer admitted during questioning: “When someone asks for details we don’t have, we hang up. There’s no point continuing.” Now the move that breaks their script. When they say “confirm the transaction” or “read the card numbers,” calmly ask: “Tell me the amount of my last purchase.” For a real bank, that’s basic info. For a manipulator, it’s a dead end. After this question, 89% of suspicious calls end within the first 40 seconds. They realize they’re dealing with someone who won’t fall for it. A real bank already knows your transactions. They will never ask for the full card number, the text code, or your password. If the conversation moves toward that data — it’s a scheme 99.7% of the time. One question can save you $950 and six months of headaches.

⚠️ Scam Alert: Ongoing Jury Duty Phone Scams in America Please be careful out there. There is an ongoing phone scam targeting people across America. Scammers are calling individuals and pretending to be police officers or court officials. They claim that you missed jury duty or failed to appear in court and say you must pay a fine immediately to avoid arrest or prosecution. These callers often sound convincing and may even use fake badge numbers or official-sounding language. If you are at work, they may insist that you stay on the phone with them the entire time while they direct you to withdraw money. They will then instruct you to deposit the cash into a Bitcoin machine. They may also tell you not to inform anyone about the situation. This recently happened to a friend who was pressured into paying $10,000 to scammers. Here are important things to remember: No real police officer or court will ever demand payment over the phone. Law enforcement will never ask you to pay fines using Bitcoin machines, gift cards, or wire transfers. No legitimate official will tell you to keep the matter secret. If someone calls claiming to be from the police or court about jury duty or missed court dates, hang up immediately. Call your local police department directly using their official phone number to verify any claims. If anyone pressures you to send money through a Bitcoin machine, it is a scam. Once money is sent through cryptocurrency, it is almost impossible to recover. Please warn your family and friends, especially senior citizens, who are often targeted by these criminals. Encourage them not to answer calls from unknown numbers and never to send money to someone they do not personally know and trust. Stay alert and protect yourself and your loved ones. Criminals are working hard to steal people’s hard-earned money, including tax refunds and retirement savings. Spread the word and help stop these scams. If you’d like, I can also make a shorter version for social media.
