This 10-second video showcases a Japanese kitchen hack for cleaning used frying oil. The method involves first straining out visible food bits, then gently heating the oil with a slurry made from water and potato starch. As the mixture warms on low heat, the starch binds to leftover particles and impurities, forming clumps that can be removed, leaving the oil noticeably clearer and ready for reuse. The technique has circulated on YouTube and TikTok since around 2019 and is effective at removing physical debris. However, as many users point out in the comments, it does not reverse chemical damage. Oxidation, heat-generated toxins, and absorbed flavors from previous frying remain in the oil even if it looks clean. Scientific research backs these concerns. Studies have shown that repeatedly heated cooking oils accumulate harmful compounds such as aldehydes and lipid peroxides. A 2024 rat-model study published in Discover BMB linked consumption of reheated oils to accelerated neurodegeneration, while earlier research (including a 2019 University of Illinois study) associated degraded oils with increased cancer risk, including enhanced breast cancer metastasis in mice. Bottom line: this hack can make oil look cleaner, but it doesn’t make it safer. Most food safety researchers recommend reusing frying oil no more than one or two times to reduce exposure to harmful byproducts—no matter how clear it appears.

Disease eradication campaigns are one of the greatest achievements of the modern world. To date, two diseases have been eradicated - Smallpox and Rinderpest. And work is currently underway to eliminate Guinea Worm, Malaria, and Polio. Requiring decades of scientific research, thousands of volunteers, and unprecedented international cooperation, eradication campaigns represent the very best of what humanity can achieve when we work toward a common goal. ... #worldhistory #globalhealth #polioeradication #diseaseprevention #worldhealthorganization

This is just a clip from a longer video but I feel like it's an important point. In the interview he also claims that Physics hasn't progressed in 50 years and his example is 'string theory gave us nothing'. If you're metric of how physics has advanced is a fairly niche hypothesis studied by a small few people in theoretical or mathematical physics, then you don't know enough about scientific research and the world around us to be commenting on it.

REAL MOON FOOTAGE 🌏 Part 373 ✨FUN FACT : 1971 Apollo 15 was the fourth mission to successfully land humans on the Moon and the first to utilize the Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV), enabling astronauts to explore much farther across the Hadley-Apennine region. The crew David Scott, James Irwin, and Alfred Worden, placed a strong emphasis on scientific research, gathering valuable lunar samples and conducting experiments, including the well-known hammer and feather drop to demonstrate how gravity works on the Moon. The mission was highly successful and marked a transition from basic landings to more advanced, science-driven exploration. 🧑‍🚀 Follow @spacegenerationx for more space content 🎬 Credit: Apollo Flight Journal / Moonpans #nasa #space #viral #spacex

Astronauts perform a critical maintenance spacewalk outside the International Space Station, orbiting about 400 km above Earth. During these missions, they repair equipment, install new hardware, and upgrade systems that keep the station running for scientific research. Disclaimer: This video is fictional and made for entertainment purposes only. Working in the vacuum of space, astronauts rely on advanced spacesuits and precise teamwork while traveling around Earth at nearly 28,000 km/h. Every spacewalk helps ensure the station continues supporting important experiments and future deep-space exploration. 🚀🌍🛰️ #Spacewalk #ISS #Astronauts #SpaceExploration #AstroVibe

☀️ THIS SUN FACT WILL CHANGE HOW YOU SEE LIGHT 👀 What you’re seeing here is mind-blowing science. The energy created deep inside the Sun’s core doesn’t reach Earth instantly. In fact, it can take MORE THAN A MILLION YEARS for that energy to slowly fight its way out of the Sun… and only about 8 minutes to travel through space once it escapes. That means the sunlight warming your face today was born before humans even existed 🤯🌍 Space isn’t just vast — it’s full of time, patience, and hidden journeys. Science reminds us every day how small… and lucky… we really are 🚀✨ ⚠️ Disclaimer: This content is shared for educational and informational purposes only. FOOD AS MEDICINES | BACKED BY SCIENCE‼ This visual focuses on dietary choices linked to heart, liver, and kidney health, though some elements contain errors or inconsistencies. Below is a breakdown aligned with scientific research: Heart Health Section - Foods to Avoid: The infographic lists red meat, alcohol, salt, sausages, donuts, and bagels. A 2023 review in Circulation confirms that excessive red and processed meat (like sausages) intake is associated with higher cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk due to saturated fat and sodium content. The World Health Organization (2022) notes that alcohol consumption increases blood pressure and CVD risk, while high salt intake raises hypertension risk—per a 2024 study in The Lancet. Added sugars in donuts and refined grains in bagels are also linked to elevated LDL ("bad") cholesterol, per research in Nutrition Reviews (2023). - Note: Not all red meat intake is equally harmful; lean, unprocessed cuts in moderation may be part of a heart-healthy diet, per American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines. Liver Health Section - Foods to Eat: Leafy greens, grapes, berries, apples, and water are highlighted. A 2022 study in Journal of Hepatology shows leafy greens (rich in antioxidants and fiber) support liver function by reducing fat accumulation.

Lanmaoa asiatica is a rare forest mushroom species native to parts of East and Southeast Asia, typically found in old-growth woodland ecosystems and associated with hardwood trees. 🍄 The species has drawn attention due to consistent anecdotal reports linked to its accidental ingestion. 📚 Individuals have described unusual perceptual experiences centered on the appearance of small humanoid figures, often characterized as intelligent, fast-moving, and seemingly aware. 👁️ These reports recur with striking similarity across different regions and time periods. ⏳ The mushroom’s chemical composition is unusual and does not match that of commonly studied fungi. 🧪 Scientific research is currently ongoing to analyze its compounds, document reported effects, and better understand its biological and ecological characteristics. 🔬 #History #unexplained #fairy #didyouknow

💉🌍 Russia Takes a Promising Step in Cancer Research 🇷🇺✨ Russia’s National Medical Research Radiology Center has shared encouraging early findings from its experimental cancer vaccine, Enteromix. Developed using a combination of mRNA and viral-vector technology, the vaccine has shown positive results in animal studies, with reports of tumor size reduction by nearly 60–80%, slower tumor growth, and improved survival rates. 🔬💪 Researchers have said that the vaccine has successfully completed the preclinical stage and is now awaiting regulatory clearance to move into human trials. While it is not yet approved for use in patients, the announcement has generated optimism among scientists and medical experts worldwide. 🌟 If future clinical trials confirm these early results, Enteromix could represent an important advance in modern cancer treatment, especially for cases where existing therapies offer limited success. 🕊️❤️ The development highlights how continuous scientific research, innovation, and perseverance are opening new possibilities in the long fight against cancer. Although much testing still lies ahead, this progress serves as a reminder that medical science continues to move forward, bringing renewed hope to millions around the globe. ✨ #CancerResearch #MedicalBreakthrough #Russia #Enteromix #HopeAgainstCancer
