I recently had the most amazing conference experience of my career - the Shop Talk Convention. I collaborated with Attentive, who contacted me months in advance, to create a unique booth activation. Attentive asked me to personalize UGG slippers for attendees. UGGs have a suede exterior that requires a special technique for personalization, debossing - using a pyrography (woodburning) machine to burn designs directly into the suede. Working with Attentive’s creative team, we also developed a selection of custom icons that attendees could choose from. Attendees loved the Vegas-themed designs. Attentive anticipated that their booth activation would be extremely popular, so we collaborated to determine the most efficient process for personalizing the UGGs while ensuring their team could still discuss their services with attendees as they waited. Our careful planning paid off. The activation became the most popular one at the entire 10,000 attendees Shop Talk convention! My team personalized over 300 pairs of UGGs. Since these weren’t your typical convention freebies, we worked hard to provide every attendee with a premium experience. We personally consulted with each attendee about their desired personalization which ensured everyone was completely satisfied. I also spent extra time on each shoe to guarantee high-quality debossing. The buzz generated by our activation was incredible. The booth quickly became the most talked-about at Shop Talk. By the second day, when the convention doors opened, people literally ran to get in line at our booth! At times, the wait stretched to 2-2.5 hours, yet all were willing to wait for their custom UGGs. On episode 10 of shoptalk I wanted to talk about how we got started filming Fixer to Fabulous. This was something that was never on our radar, but has been such a blessing. We are a ratings based show that gets renewed every year because you all continue to watch us and keep us relevant. I want you to know, this is something that is never lost on us. Also, doing eight seasons with 3 to 4 projects per house starts to tap the creative ideas we have. I would love to hear any unique builds you think would be fun to watch. Meta announced 3 very exciting updates at Shoptalk yesterday: #1 Meta is making it easier for creators to link products more broadly on Instagram. Now creators can create shoppable moments of discovery by tagging products from a brand’s catalog or through eligible affiliate links directly in their Reels. No more link in bio! #2 They are expanding affiliate partnerships to more test partners, including Amazon, eBay, and Temu. With affiliate partnerships, creators tag products from retailers in their posts to help their communities find and buy products. Businesses choose which products to feature and set the commission for sales. When someone purchases a product through a creator’s post, the creator earns a commission making it easy and simple for both to benefit. #3 They're introducing new ways for creators to recommend products while making it easier for people to use AI to discover new products, learn more about them and make a purchase.
