EA10 MILE FUEL & HYDRATION ROUTINE 🏃♀️
I am currently training for my 2nd 50k in November and wanted to share some of my favorite fuel and hydration tips.
FUEL:
Aim to get in pre-run carbs! If it’s an early run aim for 30-45 grams pre-run but if you have time before eat a full higher carb bfast. Watch out for doing too much fiber or fat to avoid digestion issues. @honeystinger waffles are my go to.
During the run I aim for 30-45 grams of carbs per hour so for my 10 miler I am aiming to get at least 45-60 carbs in for the 90 minutes of running. @skratchlabs have the most delish gummies.
Practice your fueling and try new sources to avoid burn out and GI issues on race day. Nerd clusters have been working super well when the weather is hot for me and just popping a few at a time.
HYDRATION:
-I aim to get in at least 16 oz per hour of water depending on heat. Paired with 1-2 salt tabs due to depleting sodium and other electrolytes through sweat. @salomon have the best vest that fit snug and hold 40 oz of water!
🧂@saltstick tabs are my fav to chew as I go!
-I also typically chug 10-16 oz with my coffee before I head out on the run to get ahead on my hydration 💦 coffee isn’t for everyone before a run but it makes me feel more energized and alert out there
BOTTOM LINE! fuel and hydrate your run well not just because I said so but the research shows it provides better recovery, gut tolerance with practice and overall better performance!

1st - all of their products taste delicious! The energy chews are the softest and most “natural” tasting chews I’ve tried. By natural I just mean they’re easy to eat and don’t make me cringe when I bite into them 😅

SAIt’s restock day 😝
All my favourites! The only new addition is the Skratch high carb 🍋🟩🍋 I’ve tried it a couple times and really like it so I’ve decided to incorporate it into my long runs along with gels, it’s lots more carbs so I know my body will need some time to adjust, but I think it’s going to be super beneficial.
I do prefer gels because they’re more convenient and I use them for races BUT I can’t only do gels in training every week, it’s just so boring and I end up dreading it. I’ll mix it up with chews and gels, but stick with the ones I’ve tried and know are easy on my gut.
