2 Year Sleep Regression 😴 This one is all about connection and making sure your little one isn’t napping too much during the day. Plenty of 2 year olds will be doing a 2 hour nap during the day and going to bed at 7pm and I’m sure this is all you hear from other parents but it’s NOT the average. If you’re forcing a long nap and they’re struggling to fall asleep at bedtime and taking a long time then it’s time to reduce it. #sleepconsultant #babysleep #parentingtips #sleepcoach #parenting

This might be our new favorite part of the bedtime routine, so save this and send it to another mama who loves sweet, simple ways to end the day. 🫶🏻 Once your little one is tucked in and the lights are low, take a quiet moment together to say thank you (and goodnight) to their body: 💛 “Thank you, feet, for running and jumping today. Goodnight, feet.” 💛 “Thank you, tummy, for all the yummy snacks. Goodnight, tummy.” 💛 “Thank you, arms, for giving big hugs. Goodnight, arms.” 💛 “Thank you, heart, for loving so big. Goodnight, heart.” 💛 “Thank you, body, for helping me play and rest. Goodnight, body.” It’s such a sweet, grounding way to end the day, a moment of calm connection that helps kids feel safe in their bodies and ready for rest. 🌙 Why it works: This simple practice taps into mindfulness and co-regulation, two key tools for better sleep. By slowing their breathing, focusing their attention, and ending the day with gratitude, your child’s nervous system naturally shifts out of “go mode” and into calm, sleepy readiness. Their body starts releasing melatonin and easing cortisol, the science-y way of saying: peaceful sleep ahead. 🧠💤 A reminder that bedtime doesn’t have to be perfect or fancy, sometimes the most powerful routines are the simple, soulful ones! ✨ If bedtime still feels tough, comment RESCUE below for my 30-minute Sleep Rescue Call ($60). You’ll fill out a short questionnaire before we chat so I can review your little one’s current sleep challenges, then we’ll hop on a 30-minute call where I’ll walk you through actionable steps and a plan to get your child sleeping more independently. Need it all written out? You can also add on a full written PDF of your customized sleep plan for just $25. This is how you move from feeding to sleep. I know it seems impossible. I get it. I also want to say that you don’t have to “work on sleep”- sleep problems are defined by the parent, not by anyone else. It is only a problem if it is a problem for you. Us nurses at The Mama Coach work with families every day with sleep. It isn’t an all or nothing approach and we help families find sleep everyday who really believed it was going to be impossible. Do you put your baby to bed only for them to wake 30 minutes later or multiple times before midnight? These false starts are a super common sleep struggle a lot of parents are confused on how to navigate. The #1 reason it happens? Overtiredness. When babies are awake too long before bed, their bodies produce more cortisol, the stress hormone. Cortisol gives a temporary burst of energy, so babies might look tired but then suddenly fight sleep, cry when laid down, or wake soon after falling asleep. Even if they fall asleep quickly, that extra cortisol makes it harder for them to stay asleep. This is especially during that first stretch of the night when sleep should be deepest. Here’s what to look at: 🌙 Adjust the last wake window. For babies under 6 months: bedtime (like in the crib not staging bedtime routine) might need to be just 1.5 hours after the last nap ends. For babies over 6 months: aim for about 2 hours after the last nap ends. That 3rd last nap of the day should start around 4:30-5pm and is short (like literally only 30 minutes). Because it’s so short and really just serves as a little bridge between the longer midday nap and bedtime, your baby may tire out faster than you expect. 🌙 Watch for sleepy cues. Red/purple eyelids, zoning out, rubbing eyes, or losing interest in play are signs bedtime needs to happen soon. 🌙 Keep bedtime calm and consistent. Dim lights, reduce stimulation, and use the same short routine so your baby’s body learns that it’s time for sleep. Getting the timing right can completely change how bedtime goes. When your baby’s sleep pressure and body clock are aligned, bedtime becomes smoother, false starts fade, and nights stretch longer. ✨Follow @the.sleep.spot for baby sleep info and real world tips that atrial work✨ #sleeptraining #overtiredbaby #sleepcoach #babysleeptips #sleepconsultant #gentlesleeptraining

The thing is, sleep isn’t just about routines… temperament plays a huge part too. Some little ones arrive ready to snooze anywhere, anytime, and others? Well, let’s just say those of us with non-sleepers are clearly working through some serious past-life plot twists 😅 But here’s the reassuring bit: even the most sensitive, fiery, or alert kiddos can sleep better. I’ve got the 100% 5-star reviews to prove it - they simply need support that goes beyond the standard “one-size-fits-all” advice. Their wiring is different… not wrong. And you’re doing an incredible job meeting them where they’re at. ♥️ If night wakes are your current struggle, I’ve put together a free guide that walks through the most common reasons kids wake at specific times of the night. Comment “night waking” and I’ll send your copy. Remember to follow me for more sensitive sleep solutions and tell me, what’s your child’s temperament? 👇 #motherhood #parenting #momlife #sleepsupport #tired #babysleeptips #newmoms #sleepcoach #nightwaking #momsofinstagram #wildchild #kiddontsleep #ineedsleep

Follow @thesleepylittlebubs for more baby sleep tips 💛 Did you know your baby might already be trying to get themselves to sleep — even if it doesn’t look like it? 😴 If you notice any of these signs after 3 to 4 months of age, pause before stepping in and give them a moment… 👇🏼 ✨ Thumping their legs up and down ✨ Wriggling or repositioning themselves ✨ Moving their head from side to side ✨ Sucking their thumb, hands, feet, dummy or comforter (sucking is a natural calming tool!) ✨ Soft, inconsistent cries with pauses (not emotional crying, which you should respond to) 💤 When our little ones wake overnight, our instinct is often to rush straight in. But sometimes the best response is simply to wait. If you intervene too soon, you may accidentally interrupt their settling process — which can lead to more crying or a full wake-up. These behaviours are your baby’s way of trying to drift back to sleep. They may use one, some or all of them — every little one finds their own rhythm. 💤 👉🏼 One quick note: lots of parents see their newborn sucking or munching on their hands and assume it’s self-settling. But in the early weeks, it’s usually hunger cues or just hand discovery — a developmental milestone around 3 months. True self-settling cues tend to show up a little later. Which of these have you seen during sleep time? 👶🏼 Drop it in the comments below. If you want to understand exactly how to support this stage — without leaving your baby to cry, and without guesswork — the 5 to 24 Month Sleep Course was made for you. Inside, you’ll learn: 🌙 What realistic self-settling looks like 🧸 How to support your baby to sleep with your current approach, then gently progress ✨ Routines, regressions, nap transitions and settling techniques for every age 💛 A full roadmap from 5 months to 2 years The waitlist is now open for early access and an exclusive launch bonus. 💛 Tap the link in bio or comment WAITLIST and I’ll send it straight to you.

No one ever tells you just how noisy newborns can be, right?! 😅 From grunts to little squeaks, it’s all totally normal. Most of the time, it’s just your baby moving through a phase called active sleep. In this stage, baby’s brains are processing a lot of information, and it’s common for them to wiggle, grimace, and make all sorts of sounds. Young babies wake up a lot because around half of their sleep time is spent in REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. This is a lighter, more active stage where they move and may even stir with a whimper. But don’t worry—this is completely normal! As your baby grows, they’ll spend less time in REM and more time in deeper, quieter sleep. During quiet sleep, they’ll lie relatively still, and their breathing will be more even. It can be tempting to jump in, thinking they’re awake during active sleep, but sometimes we risk disrupting their rest when they don’t need us. My biggest tip for little ones is to pause for a moment and reflect on what they actually need before rushing to them. 🌙✨ However, if your baby is making unusual noises or you’re concerned something isn’t right, always seek skilled support to ensure everything’s okay. ❤️ Did/does your newborn make a lot of noise at night? Let me know in the comments! 🧐👇👶💤
