I was pretty concerned that our home would be dimmer so I went with a lighter tint for the film. Natural light is so important for my job, so I’m glad that I don’t see any changes in terms of natural brightness in our home:) The consultation process involved looking through the films with @jestacsg at home, and then taking measurements & receiving a quotation. This is something I wish we knew earlier — not all window tints actually block heat. We recently installed Umbratek’s Lucina series, and the difference is clear. The car feels noticeably cooler, glare is reduced, and the windows stay bright and natural instead of overly dark. What sold me was the technology. Lucina uses Titanium Nitride Magnetron Sputtering, a multi-layer ceramic coating designed for strong heat rejection, durability, and clarity. When we moved into our new home, I didn’t realise how strong the sunlight would be until Clerine started using her room more. Her study table is right in front of the window and every morning the glare was really quite jialat 😅 Even resting on the bed also very bright, keep squinting eyes. Curtains helped a bit, but the room became dark and stuffy. Not ideal for a kid’s room. So we decided to install @umbratekwindowfilm Umbratek Lucina Series tinted film and honestly… the difference is very obvious the moment it was done. Before: Very glaring, room heats up fast, need to close curtains most of the time. After: Light still comes in, but much softer. The room feels cooler, less heat and no more harsh glare on her table. Clerine can sit there happily to do her homework without complaining “my eyes hurt” anymore 🥹 What I like is that the Lucina series uses advanced titanium and ceramic technology, so it helps to reduce heat, block UV rays and cut down glare without making the room dark. Even in the afternoon sun, the room feels more comfortable, and we don’t need to rely so much on aircon. For those doing reno or moving into a new place or even would like to do a home makeover in Singapore — especially if your windows get a lot of sun — I really recommend considering solar film early.
