Song: dear anxiety by BLÜ EYES. Before beginning, stand up🫶 1. Arm taps on one side (get the armpits too to help activate the lymphatic system). Let it feel good - allow your body to dictate the strength of the taps and the type of feedback you need. 2. Tap the chest and ROAR! 3. Arm taps other side 4. Another roar! 5. Tap the belly and digestive system area. 6. Leg taps, front and back - get the hips and tush too! 7. Gentle taps along the back of the neck, crown of the head, and face. 8. Trauma doesn’t always arrive with a headline. Sometimes it’s subtle, cumulative, or buried deep in our bodies. It can stem from early life experiences—like abandonment, instability, or chronic stress—that set our stress response to a low simmer, always bracing, always scanning. When the stress response gets stuck in “on,” even at a low hum, it changes everything. 🌀 It can throw off cortisol patterns, leading to energy crashes or wired-at-night insomnia 🌀 It can make blood sugar harder to stabilize, triggering cravings, weight changes, and metabolic shifts 🌀 It can affect our hormones—especially thyroid and adrenal—and disrupt our cycles 🌀 It can weaken immunity, increase inflammation, and intensify autoimmune tendencies 🌀 And it can color our mental health with anxiety, depression, or the sense that we’re never quite “safe” in our own skin. In my medical practice, addressing trauma, stress, and cortisol dysregulation is almost always part of the healing process. Not because something is wrong with us—but because our bodies are wise. They’ve been adapting, surviving, protecting us. Healing means bringing that protective system back into balance—so that our hormones, our sleep, our minds, and our spirits can finally exhale. I’ve personally been doing that work through somatic practices, journaling, and meditation. These help me reconnect with my body and give space for what’s been held too tightly for too long. If you’re feeling tired, anxious, off-center—or if your body feels like it’s carrying something unnamed—please know: ✨ You are not alone. ✨ There’s nothing wrong with you. ✨ Your body is speaking. And there’s a path forward. Capacity is not about eliminating stress. It is not about being calm all the time. It is not about never getting triggered again. Capacity is about how much activation your nervous system can move through and return from without shutting down, lashing out, or feeling completely overwhelmed. If even moderate stress feels catastrophic, that is not a character flaw. It is a capacity issue. So how do we build capacity? 1️⃣ Titration Work with small, manageable doses of activation in the body, followed by a return to something settling or resourcing. You gently touch the edge of discomfort, track the sensation, and then pendulate back to neutral or pleasant. Your nervous system learns through experience, not education. Titration teaches your body that activation does not equal danger. 2️⃣ Co-regulation Your nervous system reorganizes in the presence of another nervous system. Not through isolation. Not through white knuckling. Working with a therapist, somatic practitioner, secure friend, or emotionally available partner allows your system to experience safety in connection. Capacity expands in relationship. 3️⃣ Reduce background stress You cannot build capacity if you are constantly flooded. Ongoing relational conflict, toxic work environments, financial instability, chronic overcommitment. These are load-bearing stressors. Capacity expands when your baseline stress decreases and your system has room to recalibrate. This is the work we do inside the Body-First Healing Program. We build your container slowly and intentionally so activation no longer feels like it is going to take you out.
