OGEvery F1 car on the grid has a battery inside…and it charges itself.
The typical engine in an F1 car produces close to 900 horsepower. The electric battery inside contributes another 160 horsepower to that at max boost.
When the driver brakes, all that energy that a normal car loses as heat? The electric motor recovers it and uses it to charge the battery.
But, in 2026, everything changes.
