COLet's take a look under the floorboards to see exactly what happens when you row through the gears.
When you press down on the clutch pedal, you are temporarily disconnecting the engine's spinning flywheel from the transmission. This brief mechanical pause allows you to move the shifter, which pushes a series of linkages to slide a specific gear ratio into place along the driveshaft.
Releasing the clutch smoothly re-engages the friction plate to the flywheel. DEDay 2 of driving my Mini Tour Bus !
You’ll hear me say “I never was a stick shift girl” and it’s true. It may seem like a basic skill to many but shifting gears when driving is foreign to me and tackling the twists turns and hills door to door for a total of 14 hours of driving in 2 days - my personal record - left me happily exhausted and proud ! It’s like doing a sport where you have to be fully present and engaged and after you’re done you can collapse into that sense of accomplishment. The scenery in this part of the country en route from Vegas to Oregon is breathtaking ! My Manager Heather reminded me we went this way during the Mixtape Tour. But, in coming out of dealing with aggressive neurological Lyme at that time and with that tour being my return to a grueling schedule , when I wasn’t doing my thang onstage and meeting y’all I was sleeping. And meditating. And sleeping again. I had double the team taking care of me, a fraction of the workload, and a giant expensive bus that I didn’t own (but rented at a premium to fit the staff I needed to help me get on that stage) and I sure as heck didn’t ever drive ! Life is So different now and though I still rest a ton and have my challenging moments , I look at how far I’ve come and how much more free and empowered I am these days and I savor every moment and rejoice !!! DON’T DELAY JOY! Figure out what brings you happiness and get resourceful and take steps towards it. One day I will truly fill you all in on the holes I’ve clawed my way out of. If you think I don’t get it … I do. I’ve never been in an ivory tower but this last decade plus found me deep in the trenches. Go for those incremental changes and baby steps cuz where you lean is where you’ll end up and you just may find there are simple pleasures to enjoy round every turn that add up to living your best life! I can honestly say , I’m living mine ! It’s unconventional and intense and a lot rides on my own personal investments and I wouldn’t have it any other way !
