Leave blurting in 2023 ⤵️ Blurting is a very popular study technique that involves reviewing a piece of content (e.g. from your textbook) and then trying to write down as much information as you can remember. 📚 However, blurting is not a study strategy backed by scientific research. 🚨 WHY BLURTING DOESN’T WORK 🚨 - It targets your short term memory instead of long term memory. - It promotes shallow encoding rather than deep encoding. -It is not useful for more conceptual or complex topics. WHAT TO DO INSTEAD: 1️⃣ You need to focus on strategies that improve your long-term memory rather than short-term memory. So, don’t try to recall content immediately after you have reviewed it as that is just testing your short-term memory. 2️⃣ Start recalling information (called retrieval practice) BEFORE you review content (instead of after). Here are the steps. - learn the content. - wait a day - then, write down everything you remember on a page - then review content and the parts you noticed that you didn’t remember well. 3️⃣ Space out your study sessions. Instead of repeatedly ‘blurting’ or reviewing content, space your study sessions out over days and weeks. Long-term memory strength 📈📈 🌱 Was this information new to you? Here are 8 honest truths about med school you should know before you start 👇 1️⃣ You will question your intelligence. Medical school covers complex material at a very fast pace, and some topics are genuinely difficult to grasp. At some point you’ll wonder if you’re smart enough, most medical students do, and that’s normal. 2️⃣ You will forget most of what you memorized. Medical school is a massive information dump. You learn thousands of facts and very detailed knowledge, but only a portion sticks long-term. The important part is building a solid overview and understanding the big picture. 3️⃣ Studying harder doesn’t always guarantee top results. Sometimes the difference between students isn’t knowledge, but study strategy, how you manage your time during the test and what to prioritize. 4️⃣ Being smart isn’t enough. It’s not just about being intelligent. Discipline, consistency, and showing up every day make the real difference, especially when it gets tough. 5️⃣ You will question if you made the right choice. Almost every medical student secretly wonders at some point if they actually belong there. Long hours, the pressure and constant exams can make you doubt yourself, but these doubts are normal and they will pass. 6️⃣ Exams never really stop. Just when one exam ends, the next one is already around the corner. Medical school is a long cycle of studying and examination, learning to handle it is a part of becoming a doctor. 7️⃣ You will study for hours and still feel unprepared. The amount of material is so large that feeling completely ready is rare. Learning to tolerate that uncertainty is a part of the process. 8️⃣ You will learn things you’ll never use again. Medical school requires mastering huge amounts of detail, and some of it rarely appears in real clinical practice. The goal is building a broad foundation, even if parts fade later. Did you face any of these in med school? 🤓 Save this so you can revisit it during med school Follow for more honest doctor insights. 🩺 #doctor #medicine #inspiration #goals #motivation

📊 ELEVATE your study approach with these subject-specific techniques! ⭐ 🧬 Biology – Transform complex processes into visual narratives. Create detailed diagrams linking structure to function and flowcharts showing feedback mechanisms. Use comparison tables for related systems and color-code different organizational levels. ⚗️ Chemistry – Structure notes around reaction patterns and molecular behavior. Build mechanism cards showing electron movement with curved arrows. Create periodic trend summaries and highlight exceptions that demonstrate key principles. ➗ Maths – Prioritize worked examples over theory descriptions. Document multiple solution methods for similar problems and create formula sheets with application contexts. Maintain a “challenge problem” section with step-by-step solutions. Tailor your study strategy to each subject’s unique challenges and see your understanding deepen dramatically!

1️⃣ Fix Your Study Timing (Summer Strategy) Summer makes you sleepy because of heat ☀️ Best schedule: 🕔 5:00 am – 8:00 am → 3 hrs (Most productive time) 🕙 10:00 am – 1:00 pm → 3 hrs 🕔 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm → 2 hrs 🕘 9:00 pm – 11:00 pm → 2 hrs ✅ 10 hrs total 🚫 Avoid studying in peak heat (2–4 pm). 2️⃣ Prevent Summer Sleepiness ✔ Stay Cool • Study near fan/AC • Take a cold face wash break every 2–3 hrs • Wear light cotton clothes ✔ Hydration Rule • Drink water every 30–40 mins • Add ORS / lemon water once daily • Coconut water helps (natural energy) 3️⃣ Eat Light (Heavy food = Sleep 😴) ❌ Avoid: • Rice in afternoon • Oily food • Too much sugar ✅ Eat: • Fruits (watermelon, apple) • Curd • Light roti + sabzi • Soaked almonds ☕ If you drink coffee, have it only once (morning). Too much caffeine = crash later. 4️⃣ 50–10 Rule (Very Important) Study: • 50 minutes focus • 10 minutes break (walk/stretch) After 3 sessions → take 30 min break. Your brain cannot focus continuously for 3–4 hours. 5️⃣ Power Nap Trick If sleepy: • Take 20 min nap only • Not more than 30 mins It refreshes brain without making you lazy. 6️⃣ Instagram Control (Very Important) Notifications disturb focus. During study: • Turn off notifications • Keep phone in another room • Use app lock for 3 hrs Social media drains more mental energy than studying. 7️⃣ Move Your Body Daily 15–20 min: • Skipping • Fast walking • Stretching Better blood flow = Less sleepiness. 8️⃣ Mental Trick 🧠 Don’t think: “I have to study 10 hrs.” Think: “I just have to complete 1 session.” Focus on sessions, not total hours. . . . . @upscwithira #studymotivation #summerstudy #studyroutine #studywithme #fypppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp

4 Practical Study Methods That Actually Work 👇🏻 1. Immersion Method (Deep Focus) → Choose 1 subject for the entire day → Start with lecture / concept explanation → Write short structured notes → Immediately solve practice questions Example: •Monday → Physics only •Tuesday → Chemistry only Purpose:Less subject switching = deeper concentration 2. 80 / 20 Study Rule → Find topics that appear most frequently in exams → Spend majority of time on high-weightage concepts → Practice PYQs and important formulas first → Keep low-priority topics for later revision Example: •Solve previous year papers •Revise core formulas daily Purpose: Better marks with focused effort 3. 3-3-3 Study Method → Study 3 hours with full focus → Take a 30 min reset break → Before stopping, review 3 important points How to review: •Write key formulas •Recall concepts without notes Purpose: Improves memory and prevents mental fatigue 4. Retrospective Timetable → At night, list what you actually completed → Do not record only what you planned Example: •Planned → 4 topics •Completed → 2 topics Track progress daily.
