STthe realities of living with a chronic illness and also being a nurse, I clocked off at 7:30am morning after 12 hours of looking after our gorgeous premature babies and went straight to get my routine TPN bloods taken from my central line > then home > attach to TPN and sleep majority of the day.
routine blood tests on tpn matter because your nutrition goes straight into your bloodstream so if anything’s off it can hit fast. the bloods check your body’s staying balanced and coping like salts and hydration, liver and kidneys, blood sugar, infection signs, plus vitamins and trace elements so your team can tweak your tpn early and keep you safe before you feel gross

I don’t usually share this side of my life a lot. Not because I’m ashamed, but because it’s quiet. Unfiltered. The behind the scenes of illnesses that people don’t often see.
But this is our reality for most days, hospital admissions, treatment, exhaustion & more…The moments that aren’t aesthetic or inspirational, just real. :)🤍
Instead of hiding it, I’m choosing to sit with it. To be honest about it. To be intimate with the brokenness.
I can’t control this chapter, but I can choose how I hold it. I can embrace it as part of my story.💛🎗️
I hope that by sharing my own raw, real moments, will remind you (all my fellow friends with illnesses) that you are not alone in this.❗️ I am fighting alongside you and im so proud of you for getting through the day.💛

SHMy dinner looks the same as always — TPN, IV nutrition that runs through my central line for 18 hours because I have gastroparesis (stomach paralysis) caused by CRPS. That one bag costs about $1,000 before insurance, and it’s how my body gets everything it needs.
Their dinner was about $10 — Costco pizza for my family and my best friend’s family, kids running around with activities, laughter filling the house. Simple. Easy. Full in all the ways that matter.
Even though I can’t eat, nights like this fill my heart. Being here, being present, watching memories happen around me — that’s everything.
I’m so incredibly grateful to be here for another year, and so thankful for every single one of you who follows along, supports, learns, and shows up with kindness. Truly.

If you do send it to them because you can be the air that they breathe. “After weeks in the hospital—unable to eat, drink, or even breathe without help—surviving on TPN, blood transfusions, and sheer will, I finally had a visitor beyond my husband. And the one who came first… I will never forget.
My best friend and I used to run that forest path together. As I got sicker, we slowed to a walk. But two things never changed: everything we said in those woods stayed there, sacred. And we always stopped at the same spot—overlooking the raging river below. Every season, we paused to breathe it in. Summer’s warm breeze, fall’s crisp leaves, winter’s sharp, clean cold that made me feel alive in my bones. I’d inhale deeply and whisper, ‘Isn’t it wonderful to be alive?’
Months had passed since I could walk that path. Months of pain, fear, and fighting to stay here. Then she walked in with a cooler. Inside, a simple box. She said, ‘You only get one shot at this, my friend. Stick your head in and breathe.’
The box looked empty. But when I opened it and took that deep breath… oh God. It was our winter river wind. Fresh, cold, alive. I was right there with her again—standing on our sacred spot, the frozen river below, the barren trees letting us see forever, her hand in mine. She had gone alone to our place, captured that exact moment, sealed it, and brought it to me when I needed it most.
An empty box overflowing with love. The depth of that gift is beyond words. It reminded me: friendship like this doesn’t just visit you in the hospital—it carries the wind, the memories, the very breath of life to you when you can’t reach it yourself.
