And on how long the president can keep paying TSA workers without action from Congress: “The president can’t keep signing … proclamations every time Congress fails to do their job,” she said, accusing Democrats of “holding our country hostage.”

As of right now, roughly 50,000 TSA agents across the country remain unpaid. This isn’t a win for any side, it’s a failure of cooperation. The conversation should shift from “Who is to blame?” to “How do we fix this together?” But this also begs the question of how our politicians should operate in the midst of a partial government shutdown.
