Rota,tarihi tren garında başlıyor. Viktorya dönemi ihtişamını taşıyan istasyon, modern gökdelenlerle çevrili olsa da nostaljik ruhunu koruyor. İçeride II. Dünya Savaşı’na dair dokunaklı Kindertransport Anıtı var.
👉 Daha ilk adımda Londra’nın geçmişiyle bugünü yan yana geliyor.
2. Horizon 22
Kısa bir yürüyüşle şehrin en yeni ve en yüksek ücretsiz seyir terasına çıkıyorsun. 58. kattan bakınca Tower Bridge, St Paul’s, Shard ve Thames panoraması gözünün önüne seriliyor.
3. Sky Garden
Walkie Talkie binasının tropik bahçelerle dolu terası. İçeri girince bir gökdelenin içinde değil de botanik bahçesindeymişsin gibi hissediyorsun. Thames manzarasında Tower Bridge neredeyse elini uzatsan dokunacak kadar yakın görünüyor.
👉 Horizon 22 modern ve yüksek; Sky Garden daha atmosferik, sıcak ve yeşil.
4. Leadenhall Market
Birkaç dakika yürüyünce cam çatılı, renkli sütunlu büyüleyici bir pazar yerine geliyorsun. Burası 19. yüzyıldan kalma, Viktorya mimarisinin en güzel örneklerinden biri. Harry Potter’daki Diagon Alley sahneleri burada çekildi 🎬.
Fotoğraf için inanılmaz bir durak; gündüzleri tarihi, akşamları ışıklarıyla ayrı güzel.
5.Millennium Bridge
Dar sokaklardan Thames’e iniyorsun ve modern, ince köprü karşına çıkıyor. Yürürken arkanda St Paul’s’un kubbesi, karşında Tower Bridge görünüyor. Hafif rüzgâr ve nehir sesiyle Londra’nın kalbinde yürüdüğünü hissediyorsun.
6. St Paul’s Cathedral
Şimdi gökdelenlerden tarihe dönüyorsun. Devasa kubbesiyle Londra’nın en görkemli simgelerinden biri. İçeri girmesen bile avluda oturup kubbeyi izlemek bile büyüleyici.
7. Tate Modern
Köprünün sonunda dev bir tuğla bina: eski elektrik santralinden dönüştürülmüş Tate Modern. İçeride Picasso, Dalí, Warhol gibi modern sanat ustaları; üst kat terasında ise Thames manzarası seni bekliyor.

HETwenty-five years ago, the Tate Modern opened for the first time to the public. This anniversary coincides with the 75th birthdays of Jacques and Pierre, both celebrated this spring – warm wishes to Jacques, Pierre, and @tate!
On the occasion of the opening, we shared a text, excerpted here:
“It is exciting for us to deal with existing structures because the attendant constraints demand a very different kind of creative energy. In the future this will be an increasingly important issue in European cities. You cannot always start from scratch. We think this is the challenge of the Tate Modern as a hybrid of tradition, Art Deco and super modernism: it is a contemporary building, a building for everybody, a building of the 21st century.
And when you don’t start from scratch, you need specific architectural strategies that are not primarily motivated by taste or stylistic preferences. Such preferences tend to exclude rather than include something. Our strategy was to accept the physical power of Bankside’s massive mountain-like brick building and to even enhance it rather than breaking it or trying to diminish it.
This is a kind of Aikido strategy where you use your enemy’s energy for your own purposes. Instead of fighting it you take all the energy and shape it in an unexpected and new way.”
