I recently saw a comment where a turtle keeper was “debunking” chelonians need for UVB, because theirs have been alive for 12 years without ever having UVB. 🫠
Reptiles are MASTERS of disguise when it comes to their health, and often won’t outwardly show signs of distress or illness until the damage is severe, or even irreparable. I’d bet that these turtles have warped shells with doming or upturned edges, weak joints, and very weak bones. An X-ray would be horrifying to behold. 🦴
If you’re considering a reptile, please take into account the cost of their lighting and heating - these are ongoing costs that can quickly add up, especially with diurnal (active during the day) species. ☀️
