AU🥴 This kid got pummeled this weekend.
🥳Just a shout out to this awesome kid. Yesterday he played his first competitive level basketball game and they got hammered.
💀It was insane how badly they lost. They are a new team and they are still finding their rhythm. It was obvious they have a lot to work on and the other team was far more prepared.
💪🏾But his team did NOT give up! They just kept pushing. They pushed harder. Rohan never looked defeated.
😳However, I don’t know if it’s because I’m new to competitive sports and please someone help me out here… but I was really shocked by how aggressive the other team was. Elbowing to the face over and over again. Kids were on the ground crying after getting pushed to the ground. Even though the ref kept calling fouls, he only called half of the fouls. Rohan got slammed to the ground and there was no foul called only because another teammate had his leg injured and had to go off the court and recover. One kid had bruises. The other coach celebrated when my kid was elbowed to the ground. Another teammate was in so much pain but kept trying to play even though he was limping, his finger was hurt, and he was holding his stomach in pain. Even when our team was 30 points down, the other team became more aggressive... talk about kicking someone when they’re down. Oof!
🏆My son has already moved on, he wants to work hard and get better. He’s a skater so every time you fall, you get back up.
I think this loss will energize the entire team to play harder and practice more but jeez. I’m struggling with this one. As a mom, I gotta ask, is this normal for competitive level basketball?
