For free I know 😩 anyways let's talk about quads activation 👇 . I believe there are two “keys” for maximizing quads activation and development. Those are "stretched contraction" and "peak contraction". 🤓 . While peak contraction is pretty straightforward, most people don't even know how stretched contraction in the quads feels like and they're missing out on a lot of potential progress. . 💡Research found that the highest mTOR activation occurs when muscle is fully stretched under resistance. In that position muscle is at a mechanical disadvantage and it has to work extra hard to resist the external force. . Potential issue is the fact that most regular quads exercises don't put quads under stretched contraction because the degree of knee flexion is just not sufficient but there's a cure for that and it's called sissy squats. 👇 🔵Sissy squats significantly increase degree of knee flexion where even your own bodyweight can be challenging if the technique and ROM are on point. Just observe the knee flexion angle at the bottom and you'll understand what I'm talking about. 🔵Performing sissy squats from a platform/elevated surface can increase the degree of knee flexion even further. . ✔Learn how to engage your quads at  a mechanically disadvantageous position. (aka. stretched contraction) . The 2nd thing is quite simple but still it's worth mentioning. If you're only doing squats and other compound leg exercises your quads never really achieve maximal peak contraction. 👇 🔵Perfect example of quads peak contraction is the top of the leg extension movement. 🔵Intentionally squeezing your quads at the top can increase activation in the position of peak contraction even further. . ✔In order to maximally stimulate the muscle, utilizing peak contraction (often) is crucial. . Why can't I just do heavy squats? 😪 ⚫Well of course you can and most of the leg size will come through overload in a squatting motion but at a certain point any further quads improvement will depend on "small details" such as peak contraction, stretched contraction and minor changes in angles and technique (unless you're genetically blessed in the legs department ofc). . #quads #legtraining
