WUHi everyone! For this week’s Clubs Spotlight, we are showcasing the UW Chinese Students’ Association (@uwcsa). This video is from their Bonfire Festival held in July. The UW Chinese Students’ Association aims to connect and unite diverse Chinese students at UW while contributing to multiculturalism throughout the UW community. It hosts a variety of events such as contests and giveaways, outdoor events, and social nights to facilitate and foster communication between its members and the general UW student body.

"我製作了一個短片關於我的家鄉--台灣。此靈感來自今年夏天的兩次旅行。一次是我的朋友Anika Kim 的來訪，另一次是我和畢業於UWC LPC 的本地人 Kiu Cheung 的香港之旅。

"你的調色盤很像台灣"。這是 Anika 以遊客的視角，在我們開車前往基隆，觀賞山與海、海與岸的交會處時說的一句話。這句話深深地印在我的腦海裡。

至於香港，我已經不記得具體的談話內容了。我只記得香港的街道讓我驚嘆不已。它的某些讓我感覺如此浪漫。可能是政治上的共鳴，可能是 90 年代的港片；可能是王菲，亦可能是我寫的那篇關於 Elaine Chiu 畫作的文章。儘管對 Kiu 來說，這只是平凡的香港街道。

自從離開台北之後，我才開始珍惜台北的視覺藝術。在過去的四年裡，每一次在台北的逗留皆為我的閒暇。作為一個遊客，來到一個被我稱為根源的地方，我也把它浪漫化了。或者，我只是在為自己辯護。有人說它像 1970 年的東京，也有人說它急需修繕。但我覺得它很美，因為，它是我的。"

IB Extended Essay 寫了來自香港的Elaine Chiu 如何透過描繪香港來保存個人及群體的回憶。當初會想寫香港藝術家就是因為我自己很單方面的覺得台灣跟香港之間有個不是大家都同意的羈絆，可能是無奈或者理想讓我們有種互相了解的感覺。

為著反對而反對的我不知不覺學會欣賞台北的街道，說是1970的東京還是需要都市更新的危樓城市我都沒關係，是我的就是最好的。

在看展覽的時候會覺得有件事很可愛，原來大家求的只是有人看見。「謝謝所有願意付錢來看我的想法及感受的人，被你們看見，我感到很幸運。也不用不接受我，因為你不認識我。」

還有另外一件事很可愛，有人在上環東邊街的鐵欄杆上掛小植物，忘了是為什麼，但大概記得是為了大家跟香港。

跟咖啡色在水彩裡面一樣，不夠髒不能用。在我每次想很多的時候，讓我可以放心快樂的都是人跟人之間理解及陪伴的感覺，而香港處處都充滿著人的記號。多少的大都市只剩下Minimalist的大樓，大家為了怕被批評、被拋下，都在慢慢同化成最被接納的那種人。建築也一樣，最主流的就會是最安全的。如果想要蓋的有創意，那也要標榜著要人欣賞，如果不是出於欣賞，更多路人只會當作是不小心弄壞了。

要告別舊的招牌跟大樓是真的讓人捨不得，像是萬芳醫院附近哪個店要收掉了我都像是死了一個不是很熟的朋友。不會動的裝置被我們賦予情感，然後就希望所有事物都不要汰換，一切保留在我們幸福時的樣子。但應該不是景色不變就沒問題，時間一直在走，景色會變、人也會。所以我謝謝當下讓我感受到的正面情緒，讓我當下可以什麼都願意面對，那種被理解包容的感覺；還有共享的無奈也是。「因為有人跟我感受一樣，我就感覺活著」
