STAhead of the debut of Olafur's ‘A symphony of disappearing sounds for the Great Salt Lake’; This evening, @WakeGSL will host a conversation between internationally Olafur, Bonnie K. Baxter, PhD, (Director, Great Salt Lake Institute, Westminster University), and Emily E. Lewis (water lawyer and Ripple Effect podcast host), moderated by Chris Ingraham (University of Utah, Environmental Humanities Program).
This conversation will consider how art and culture can respond to environmental crisis, ground the discussion in the scientific realities facing the Great Salt Lake, and acknowledge the practical constraints and lived experiences of those who depend on it.
‘Listening to Great Salt Lake’ will build context for ‘A symphony of disappearing sounds for the Great Salt Lake’ - a new artwork by Olafur that will activate in Salt Lake City's Memory Grove every evening from 26 March to 4 April 2026.
