The afternoon sun was golden over the manicured lawns of Beverly Hills. Aston was enjoying a quiet walk down a tree-lined drive when the peace was shattered by a frantic cacophony of squawks and aggressive barking.
Around the corner, a pair of vibrant green parrots—vulnerable on the ground after one had clipped a wing on a low branch—were being circled by a pack of three stray dogs. The dogs were snapping at the air, their low growls echoing against the high estate walls. The parrots were terrified, flapping desperately but unable to take flight.
The Intervention
Without a second thought, Aston sprang into action.
The Distraction: He didn't just shout; he grabbed a nearby discarded tennis ball and threw it hard against a metal gate, creating a loud bang that diverted the dogs' attention.
The Stand: As the dogs turned, Aston stepped firmly between the predators and the birds. He made himself look large, using a commanding, deep voice to shout, "Back off!" * The Retreat: Startled by his sudden dominance and the loud noise, the dogs hesitated, tucked their tails, and eventually scurried off toward the main road.
A Safe Departure
Aston knelt beside the feathered couple. He waited patiently until they calmed down. Seeing that the injured parrot could still hop, he gently guided them toward a high, thick hedge where they could rest out of reach of any other predators.
By the time the sun began to set, the pair had regained their strength. With a final, grateful chirp that sounded almost like a "thank you," they took to the sky, disappearing into the palm trees of the Beverly Hills horizon.
