A girl's future starts with water. Fabiola is a farmer, a mother, and a water operator. Thanks to her volunteer work, her community in Peru has access to safe water. When she visits her community's school, children run up to her, "seño Fabiola!" they say, "The water tastes good!" More than 1 billion women and girls still lack access to safely managed drinking water. Their lives - from health to education, job opportunities and leisure time, all are impacted by the lack of safe water. When communities have access to safe drinking water and sanitation services, women enjoy greater freedom, children stay at school, and water-borne illnesses decrease. Thank you, Tamara @juscallme_tam, for helping us spread awareness of the importance of safe water access.

The global water crisis doesn't impact everyone equitably. For millions of girls, it means waking up before sunrise, walking miles, and missing school just to collect water. But women are changing that story. Like Fabiola in Peru, a water systems operator who keeps her community safe. The moment she arrives at school to check the water quality, kids run to her. One little girl hugs her and says, "The water tastes good, Fabiola!" That joy - that trust - is the heart of this moment. Right now, you can be part of it. Every donation, up to $40,000, made today through March 31st will be matched, thanks to our partner CDM Smith (@cdmsmith). This means you can double your impact and help reach even more communities with safe, reliable water that gives women and girls back their time, their education, and their future. When we give a village clean water, we also give its women privacy, dignity, health, and security. The burden of water scarcity falls to women and young girls. They have to spend hours each day, walking an average of 3.7 miles to carry heavy loads of water. This work limits their opportunities and quality of life. GIFT OF TIME: By bringing water closer to home, we give women the invaluable gift of time. That's time they can spend learning, starting businesses, and engaging in activities that contribute to the development of their families and communities. PRIVACY AND DIGNITY: Improved water access also provides privacy and dignity, offering women and girls the opportunity to bathe and meet other sanitation needs in privacy. HEALTH & FINANCIAL SECURITY: The Living Water Project’s approach is simple but powerful. By empowering women, we not only improve their health and access to clean water, we also enhance their ability to improve their financial security and overall livelihoods. Through water, women empower themselves and their communities thrive. How you can help: 1. Double your dollars during our World Water Day Campaign! A generous supporter has offered to double your contributions up to $8,500 during March. That means every dollar you give will become TWO DOLLARS to fund clean water projects. To give, click the link in our bio, or go to www.livingwaterwells.org/donate. 2. Become a monthly donor! With a monthly gift of just $9, you can provide a lifetime of clean water for 12 people every year. To become a monthly donor, click the DONATE button below. 3. Walk 3.7 miles. Honor the women and girls who work so hard to help their families by walking 3.7 miles during the month of March (and challenge a friend to walk with you). Thank you! The Living Water Project

💧 On 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, water stands at the intersection of human rights, equity, and resilience. Access remains uneven, shaping lives in profoundly different ways. The global water crisis amplifies inequality, with women and girls facing the greatest challenges where safe water and sanitation are lacking. Lasting solutions depend on placing them at the center of water governance and designing systems that are climate resilient and responsive to all. A rights-based approach that recognizes women’s leadership and agency can shift outcomes at scale. When women have equal influence in decisions, water becomes a catalyst for inclusion, sustainability, and shared prosperity. Ahead of World Water Day on Sunday, we bring you the story of Maria Luisa, a mother of two from La Unión, Mexico. She experienced the burdens of the global water crisis—walking two hours, carrying heavy containers, and getting sick. After years of suffering, she took action. Maria began connecting with local governments and civic organizations, including Water Mission, about getting safe water access in La Unión. Now, she’s branched out, bringing together women to advocate for safe water and sanitation projects in 35 rainforest communities. As we recognize #worldwaterday on March 23, we celebrate women like Maria who advocate for both safe water in their communities and for women around the world. 🔗 Read Maria Luisa’s story at the link in our bio. #wwd #wwd2026 #wwd26

When people lack safe drinking water and sanitation close to home, inequalities flourish, with women and girls bearing the brunt. They walk miles to collect water. They care for people made sick by unsafe water. They lose time, health, safety, and opportunities. And too often, the systems that govern water leave women and girls out of decision-making, leadership, funding, and representation. Today, on World Water Day, we're recognizing the critical relationship between water, women, and gender equality. In ten countries around the world, Water For People champions a rights-based approach that amplifies women's voices and recognizes their agency. Share to support our work.

The theme of this years World Water Day: Water and Gender💧 Not everyone experiences water equally, women & girls are often the ones walking to collect water for their families. Missing out on education & opportunity because of it. It’s bigger than health and hydration. Water isn’t just something you drink, it’s something you spend hours collecting. That’s why at PARGO every purchase provides clean water access to people in need. #worldwaterday #worldwater #wateraccessforall

Did you know that over 1 Billion women still lack access to safely managed drinking water? This year’s World Water Day theme, “Where Water Flows, Equality Grows,” highlighted a critical truth: we cannot achieve global prosperity without addressing the water-gender nexus. When water is scarce: ⌛Time is lost: Globally, women and girls spend 250 million hours every day fetching water—time that could be spent in classrooms or running a business. ⚖️ Decisions are lopsided: Women are the primary managers of household water, yet they hold less than 15% of water-related leadership roles in many regions. These facts affect us here at home, because in a globalized economy instability is contagious. For example, water scarcity in one region drives migration, disrupts global supply chains, and fuels political unrest that affects American markets. Not to mention, we have our own water challenges like the depletion of the Colorado River and aging water infrastructure in our own cities. Water stress impacts our workforce productivity and the health of our communities and families. Sustainable infrastructure must be inclusive infrastructure. Investing in water isn’t just an environmental “check-box.” It’s a prerequisite for a productive, stable, and equitable workforce. #WorldWaterDay #GlobalEconomy #EnvironmentalHealth #GenderJustice
