What are we doing here?
Here we are doing 2 shuffles, separating our hands into a throwing position, and holding the posture…
What kind of play is this for?
This is for groundball that is fielded quickly, and you have time
Use that time to shuffle forward to:
1️⃣ create momentum for the throw
2️⃣ make the throw shorter
The trick here for the footwork is to “replace the feet” 🦶
No clacking the feet together. Big, quick, controlled shuffles
If our base (our legs) are out of control, that will trickle to the upper body and potentially cause an errant throw
The way I describe how to separate the hands is “pulling a rubber band apart” ↔️
Consistent with hitting, we need to create a STRETCH when throwing…this energy is called TENSION
We want the throwing hand right above the shoulder and the front elbow pointing to the target 🎯
Easy drill that can be done anywhere. By saying 1 & 2 ALOUD, the player inherently become more FOCUSED 🧠
