This is not the move I did that blew out my back (for the latest time) this week but it also… isn’t? The primary difference was that I was trying to put lotion on my leg right after a bath. It led to a “who will put lotion on my legs after surgery?!?” spiral meltdown [in my head] when I realized the post opp instructions are “no soaking in a bath for 4 weeks” and also no full weight bearing on the side I’m having the operation on for 4 weeks. (But also to start walking everyday? Why are surgical instructions so contradictory and confusing?) They’re grafting bone to my left hip so basically: this is the last time for awhile that I will wear a bracelet on my ankle and show it off with pride. After the initial month, I will have only a couple of weeks to get back in “show mode” for a show that’s incredibly difficult (one of our most athletic and exhausting), after the 4 to 6 weeks of nada. (Oh, and my knees will be ashy too.) Believe it or not, the surgeon said it’s not outlandish to think I can safely do it but … the self doubt about messing this up is extremely high right now. I won’t be dressing up again like this for a stretch. Or stretching. Or even be in this setting soon enough, since we are happily moving next week. (Though I do have a lot of nonsense getting-ready footage saved up.) Anyways, this messyfunky footage is the perfect example of what it is like trying to be someone with a “moisturized body” when your body is difficult. The gushing feeding tube was literally like a Bellagio level of liquid so this reaction was underplayed… But here is how nasty multitasking can look when your glam is sometimes nasty.
