THFor a long time, my evenings didn’t feel like mine.
They were filled with “just one more email,”
last-minute requests,
and the quiet pressure to always be available.
These are the boundaries that changed that:
1. I chose a non-negotiable “end” time.
Not when everything is done—
but when I am done.
2. I stopped checking email like it was a reflex.
Nothing truly urgent was ever solved at 9pm.
But my nervous system paid the price every time.
3. I let things wait until tomorrow.
Even if I could do it now.
Even if someone else wanted it sooner.
4. I got honest about my capacity.
Just because I have time… doesn’t mean I have energy.
Work will always ask for more.
Boundaries are how you decide what you’re no longer willing to give.
And slowly, your evenings start to feel like yours again.
You don’t need permission—but if you were waiting for it, this is it.
