CMYesterday morning, I visited the scene of the violent car meet up that occurred Saturday night at 12:30am in Malba, Whitestone.
I met with NYPD and Malba residents, and I want to be clear that in District 19, we do not tolerate this behavior. Unfortunately, this part of the district is an easy target for these individuals due to the bridge access, allowing them to enter and exit quickly.
Time and time again, these incidents occur, a pattern of lawlessness not only here in District 19, but across our city and state.
This is mainly the result of poor action from state leadership, including bail reform, which enables individuals to act without real consequences. When DAs aren’t able to fully prosecute, accountability breaks down.
Our community deserves better. I will continue working with law enforcement and our residents to protect our neighborhoods and ensure safety remains a top priority.
I also want to remind constituents that anyone interested in obtaining their carry or premises permit can contact my office. We provide assistance with the application process and legal fees for those who wish to exercise their constitutional right to self-protection.
